I can definitely see why this art was protested. It's hard to believe someone who can't experience misogyny and the commodification of women but is instead part of the group that does these things or these things are done for them. And the high price he fetched just seems like he commodified the commidification of women. I just dont see how a man creating women as furniture is any kind of rebellion against the status quo. It definitely seems to reinforce it, regardless of his intentions. Thanks for covering this!

Thank you so much for this comment, I really agree with your point of view it's a very fine line between creating art to disrupt the status quo that he is a part of and then monetizing it and in no way giving back hmmm

Really interesting! I wonder if his creations (eg table & chair) were a way for him to portray the crude misogyny in society, by putting such “shocking” figures out there makes society face their own issues kind of thing?… in any case like you said.. causes a stir and gets people talking but also hopefully thinking…🎉
