so wonderful when was kid to grew and listen to this tunes whome they still played long after the record camed out. Was born a little bit later. Still so wonderful so time stops and sourround you with faith and positive about now and the future. It got a strong effect on the mind and wellbeing. In Sweden it was pretty good for little kids at that time.

¡Qué comentario mas curioso y llamativo,! Un niño de diez años recuerda las audiencias musicales que tenia con un tio suyo, para volver a disfrutar pasado el tiempo, en solitario, a la pletora de cantantes, imterpletes y compositores que contiene esta magnifica recopilacion. Contare yo tambien mi experiencia con estas cantantes que me quedaron para toda mi vida y fueron importantes en mi propia formacion de musico.Todas ellas son o fueron grandes...Billie Holliday, Dianah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Brenda Lee, Ann Ross, Peggy Lee y Carmen McRae...igualmente sus melodias... Solo hay que advertir que las condiciones tecnicas de entonces, grabacion analógica, siendo suficientemente buenas para volverlas a oir, es cierto que no pueden compararse con las digitales de hoy. Bssta escuchar ahora al cuarteto de Diana Krall por ejemplo en su Live in Paris, donde se oye hasta la rozadura de un plato por la escobilla del bateria y ademas lo vemos... Pues bien, yo no tuve un tio en la familia para iniciarme en estas musicas e interpretes extraordinarios. Mi aprendizaje fue a traves de la radio, muy principalmente la VOA (Voice of America) que todas las tardes,hacia las 8 h, tenia un programa mundial en Onda Corta, presentado por el inolvidable Willis Connover, ya desaparecido y en cuya sintonia, durante muchos años, toda nuestra adolescencia, nos fuimos haciendo muchos oyentes, expertos en este repertorio que se ha quedado paradigmaticamente como el mejor para la Historia de la musica moderna y que todavia interpretan los jazzmen cuando quieren hacernos un favor a la gente veterana. Que la disfruteis tanto los jovenes de hoy, como los de mi generacion, Un saludo cordial a todos los music's fans del mundo entero.

I am loving this compilation of great female jazz singers. However, I agree a few are missing; June Christie, Chris Connor, Shirley Horn, Jo Stafford - in addition to the ones mentioned in comments; e.g. the great Nina Simone, Bessie Smith, etc. Thank you for GREAT MUSIC, something we are missing today, although singers like Norah Jones give me hope.
