Our post holes had water in them too. The ones for our gates. We put some gravel around it and guyed then to t posts. Of course it wasn’t a corner post.

I think gravel will do the trick. If the rain ever stops, I'll give it another shot.

I wouldn't worry much about the post. It'll firm-up as soon as the soil dries up. I'd put a floating brace to each side of the pull. Cows won't be wanting to jump the fence to fall into the creek. Check out a video I did about three weeks on a floating brace. They work pretty good for small stretches of fence.

On my way to check out your floating braces video! Thanks for the tip. It'll be a while before I can continue work there, as we had five inches of rain yesterday. That whole area is a swamp right now.

@@smallfarmsurvival4026 Your soil has a lot of clay but some rock too. Mine is just black lands clay, not a single pebble. The hardest part of digging holes is removing the clumps of clay from the post hole digger. I have about 700 yards of fence along a creek. Digging holes before June is almost impossible. In that area, I do my fence a little higher because over time silt will eventually reach the bottom wire.

One more thing, I back fill with road base. It works better than concrete in clay soil.

By the looks of your arm you was putting blood and sweat and tears in this project .
