It's about time. Having spent my entire working life 45+ years working with horses. It is inevitable that at some point, a child or an elderly person will be seriously hurt by one of these horses that are just completely fed up with the stupidity of the general public. This is not a petting zoo for their entertainment, and to subject both the guards and, more importantly, the animals to this day after day is nothing short of criminal negligence on the part of the powers that be, in my opinion.
@ragland96589 ай бұрын
Yes. And you often see parents with young kids in strollers they stop only a few feet from these horses front legs to take a photo - sometimes park the stroller and step away from it to take a photo of their kids alone and in harms way! And you see people stand within feet of the horses holding an infant high in the air close to a horse’s head. And you see videos of horses suddenly rearing or coming out of their guard boxes so if it ever happens when a stroller is parked there… Maybe they need to have one or two extra guardsmen out in front on foot when it’s very busy to stand near the horses to deter this sort of thing. If it’s packed, use two dismounted Kings Guards and if it’s moderately busy use one who goes back and forth out front. I know they’ve got the armed police but they only intervene if someone is a real problem.

I am 71 now when I was 10 my Uncle who lived in London took me to horse guards parade. I don’t recall the gates being open or tourists being allowed inside in those days. I have the utmost respect for my brothers having served myself for 22years.

So very happy to see the fences!!! Tourists are disrespectful towards the horses and guards! I see so many videos where people grab the reins near the horses bit!! Additionally, you never touch any animal without permission 😡

Great antidote, I feel for the rudeness or lack of horse knowledge that all guards/equine must endure. Good on that decision. The integrity of the guards must be protected if the tourists don't comprehend. For the horses used to people and are great at tolerating and mingling, it will be an adjustment.

What decision? there are no fences nor can there be on a public footpath, this is just clickbait and nothing more. Surprised so many people have fallen for it.

@@georgebarnes8163 they don’t look any further than the end of their noses! At the very least you’d think they’d notice the weather indicating that it’s old footage, poke around a bit and you can find that the barrier was temporary (obviously as it must be!) and that it was only there for The Royal Parks half-marathon!! Still, I suppose it cheered them up for a while! 😂😂

I think that’s best for the Guards and their horses. They are there to do a job. People think they can do anything to them. That stressing the horses and the Guards. May they keep them up permanently.

Thank you, whomever did this - they've got to feel claustrophobic - I do just watching them!! Absolutely agree, these people mostly tourists are disrespectful and dangerous not only the men and women in uniform but the horses. Theres only so much one can tolerate before an animal such as these beautiful horses.
