I’ve heard that the T9 might return to steam if it’s fit to operate. I can’t remember exactly what Rail Advent said about it, but I think they said that it would be assessed and if it was in good enough condition to operate it would be overhauled and if not it would return to a safe place in the National Collection.

That’s correct. 120 went to the Flour Mill in the Forest of Dean on Thursday (18/04) for assessment. If she is a good enough condition to be overhauled, she will be returned to steam in time for her 130th in 2029. If not, she will be re-assembled and sent back to the either NRM York or Shildon
