Are we sure 7:54 was fencing? The flexion of the arms and hands, the extension of the legs, and the nature of the injury remind me more of decorticate posturing. Im not an expert I dont watch sports ever so i have no comparison but huge respect to these refs and the way they jump right in

This was during its early days. It was full on PRIDE rules back then. In 2016 they did some reforms with regards to the rules. If I'm not mistaken kicking a downed opponent is still legal, just not to the head. Grounded knees are of course very much legal
