What a pleasant surprise to find this review Jonathan being a big fan of your channel.. I own a 2006 AM deluxe in ash w cherry sunburst and it's something to behold visually. Exquisite tone, as u demonstrated.. I love the SCN versatility, really unique evolution of the strat sound, punchy n defined for dirty yet docile n chimey for cleans, with no hum.. Bill Lawrence did an outstanding job in contributing to their virtual vintage design. When i bought it i tried virtually every high end strat in Tom Lee HK (30 or so, including custom shop and singnature models), and this model distinguished itself in spades (and at the right price). Bravo!

Hi Jon. Hope life is treating you well. My favourite guitar shop had a 2004 50th anniversary version of this model, it was in excellent condition and they re-fretted it and Plecked it so it plays beautifully. It has gold hardware being the anniversary edition but otherwise it's the same guitar as you played! I really, really like this guitar. The neck is just the right size for me, the pickups are versatile and noise cancelling, but retain that glassy tone. The guitar has a beautiful balance to it so it's very comfortable to play. I think it's a great instrument and I'm really pleased to have one. Thanks for this video. As always you play superbly.

Late to this video but enjoyed. I've tried and owned my share of Fender Strats and other brands, EBMM, etc. I eventually wound up with a 2005 deluxe HSS and 2013 deluxe SSS. Both are fantastic but I lean toward the 2005 as my favorite. Also have tried at least one Elite and Ultra. I wouldn't have given 1000 dollars for the Ultra. The Elite was ok.

I just picked up the 2007 version of this yesterday but mine has the rosewood fretboard. I've played it for hours, my finger hurt, but it's just a lovely guitar and everything I could ever want in a Strat. I was a little concerned if the noiseless pickups would sound ok, but really there is no issue with them, the guitar sounds amazing. Great to see you enjoying it too.

@@JonIsJustTooLoud Hey man thanks. You know I have a nice MIM FSR Gilmour vibe that has a white pickguard swapped from the black it came that way with the original so I plan to swap it. Anyway. I truly wonder since I have the larger tone block in trem if I can get pretty much same tones as US possibly by swapping pups. I do like the ceramics ok but I do hear a bit more high end spank in the alnicos from the usa strats. I will add locking fender tuners first though. I have not messed with trem yet as it came tight to the bottom with 5 springs. Lol. The guy had it set up that way. It appears he did very good ...It was 2017 December 23rd build date so I may very well have one of the last MIM standards FSR variant. Haha

I thought about one day getting a pretty warmouth neck with dark maple flamed stainless frets. Just to have it last. Lol. Not sure yet. I do know the Harley Benton Fusions HH or hsh is in my radar. Lol

Warmoth makes lovely roasted Maple necks.. But that one neck will cost about the same as a HB Fusion 2 roasted Maple guitar. 🤓✌️

nice!! some of the mim strats are really well made.. unless the pickups are problematic, there's no need to change them.. just a little EQing will help. Have fun!✌️🤓

I love Strats. My 1st "real" guitar was an 89 blue-burst Strat plus. Killer guitar. Over the last few years I've warmed up to Les Pauls a lot and that's now my main... but to me a Les Paul is kind of a one trick pony. They are a rock n roll machine for me...especially since I dont play jazz. But a Strat or even a Tele does everything pretty well. Much more versatile tonally then a Les Paul and I prefer their cleans over the Les Paul as well. Solution to this dilemma? ... Get a Les Paul style. Get a Strat style. Get a Tele style. ...I could throw in PRS, but I think that with a Les Paul, Tele, and Strat, you can do anything. :) Great video! Thanks!

Funny you should mention the 3 essential guitars to own! I was telling my friend this morning about the same thing lol...✌🤓

Its so odd.I had some guitars stolen, and have owned 10 or so over the years. I just love guitars. I can spend hours online shopping for them....looking at them.I have done that for years.But I had never owned a Strat,, a Tele, and a Les Paul at the same time.Not long ago, I was finally able to get a 2018 gold top Tribute.I was skeptical. I seriousy wondered if it was a "real" Led Paul because its a lower end version.But I was being silly. Its a "real" Led Paul. It just sings and I'm very happy with it.But that's not the point of this comment.The point is that once I had all 3 I stopped looking.I still love guitars as much as I ever did, but I really feel like I now have the bases covered.....like my tone chase has ended.Pretty amazing.

Love the tones man! I got the same guitar, It came with Gilmore EMGs on it and they just weren’t vibing with my style so I put on some 57-62 fender custom shops and it really brought out the full potential of the guitar for my personal preferences. I’ve played with those stock pups with the s1 switch on other guitars and I didn’t really care for them but you do them justice.

Yeah strats man I am addicted to strats. I have at least 10, all different from each other. Early 80s Fender, a great e series Squier, Blade r4. Blade is as good as a CS Fender. Van nuys era Schecter strat with Koa body. 2 CV Squiers 50s and 60s. Great guitars almost as good as the Japanese stuff. An Indonesian vintage modified strat that I modified ! Couple partscasters that would give some Fenders a run for their money.

I liked this video;and the playing was very impressive. But I think this model is much different from the current deluxe fender Stratocaster Sapphire blue that Musicians Friend is selling? It has the noiseless pickups;and locking tuning pegs;plus two string clips at the headstock instead of one. There’s a switch that combines various pickups like this one. Don’t know which guitar is better though?
@JonIsJustTooLoud5 жыл бұрын
It's called the Elite now... Which probably sounds different as the pickups are now in version 4✌️🤓

Every brand has stepped up their game, except Fender. Too many guitars that are better value these days. I bought a new American and it looked great, but sounded terrible so i sold it. I still play a Mex Powerhouse but the pots stopped working so i got a Schecter. Unless you must have a Strat, too guitars out there! fender fanboys are like Apple fanboys.
@Justarandomspacemonkey3 жыл бұрын
So instead of replacing the faulty pot you bought a new guitar...? Fender makes great guitars, maybe you’ve just had some bad luck finding one that fits your style.
