What’s the neck size on these compared to the AVII 61 strat? Couldn’t find any measurements.

Almost perfect. I would’ve loved to have seen these with a 7.25-9.5” compound slab fretboard, and nitro finish of course. Perhaps those are custom shop level appointments? If so, order ‘em up.

nothing a bit of oil can't fix. It has been a strange trend for big names like Fender and Gibson to ship out guitars with such dry necks though.

I just got this guitar as well, and love it. Are you the one that said in the Sweetwater review that the fretboard was dry, and you applied lemon oil to it? If so, did the lemon oil remove the dye from the fretboard dots? I’ve had that happen in the past with D’addario lemon oil, so I’m afraid to do it on this guitar. I really like the aged (fake clay) look of the dots

@@JaBen320 Did you get it pleked? Wondering if it’s even worth it on this guitar
@JaBen3204 ай бұрын
@@smcgarryI did get the Plek pro setup, only because they offered $100 off the service. I’ve never had one of my guitars pleked before, but they did a good job. The frets are perfectly level and the nut height is cut well. The setup they did after the plek was ok. The neck relief was perfect, but the action was slightly higher than I requested and the pickup heights were not correct. Both were easy adjustments to fix myself. I’m not sure what the frets and nut were like before the Plek, so I don’t know if it was necessary, but the guitar does play really well after the Plek. I would do it again for the $100 discount I got on the service.

Roasted maple necks need to become a standard feature. Far more impactful to stability than the tone-plastic back plate is to tone.

Another fantastic Don Carr video. Just when I think I'm perfectly content with my Fender American Professional II collection, Sweetwater has to come out with this new entry that I have to consider. I am crazy about my Push-Push on my American Professional II's I've owned for, wow, now that I've done the math, 4 years. That's a shock because it seems like I just purchased them yesterday. Like I said...Perfectly Content...Not even looking, much less considering...until...This video. It's definitely in consideration now. Thanks for another great video and Don Carr critique of my Go-To since 1962...The Fender Stratocaster.

I was about to call this a winning move. Then I saw the specs. Gloss poly? On a USA Strat? No-lawdy, no. What the heck?
@charlesbolton84714 ай бұрын
The only non Custom Shop US Fenders with nitro finish are the American Vintage II (even in that series it’s only the 50s and 60s models), and some of the Artist Signature models also have a nitro finish . Believe it or not, there are some Custom Shop models with a poly finish.

@CentaurusRelax3144 ай бұрын
@@charlesbolton8471 Thanks for the intel. So, maybe i should have been clearer in my post. My surprise (horror) was based on *this particular USA* release, which shows particular attention to a 'vintage' aesthetic with the 'clay dot' look, and calling it "vintage-style" and referencing "Custom Shop." Even if there are Custom Shop Strats with poly, is that what most consumers would expect as 'typical?' Seems odd to me, that's all. My mid- 90s USA Strat had nitro, if memory serves, and i don't think there were as many varieties as now. Much more recently, even my MIM Roadworn Jazzmaster has nitro. And more recently than that, i have built two killer partscaster Strats because i didn't want to spend on Custom Shops. I thought this new release would have been a strong way to address that market.

The regulations for the use of nitro are too strict in the state of California for Fender to use nitro on every US made guitar.
