Thank you for this demonstration. My only question though as this has been a little bit of a mystery. Is there something about Japanese Fender basses that does not allow the owner to change the bridge out to an aftermarket Hipshot or Babicz bridge? I heard somewhere that the Japanese Fender basses have some sort of odd archtop or something that where the bridge is locate, it is physically not capable of accepting a replacement and if you try, it will not allow it to be intonated properly. On the Fender American, Mexican, and Indonesian basses though, it is a straight-forward swap. Thank you to anyone for a reply.

Hi Old Friend, how are ya? Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate the kind comments. As far as I know, the only Made in Japan bass that has a curved or arched top is the Aerodyne Series, (Jazz and Precision). The red bass in my video is the Aerodyne Jazz bass and it has a curved top so I don't think it's possible to replace the bridge without some routing. I have several other Made in Japan Fender Jazz and Precision basses and all of those basses have the usual flat top found on USA and Mexican Fender basses so I believe it's possible to replace the stock bridge with an aftermarket bridge. However, I've never replaced any of the bridges with a Hipshot or Babicz so I have no information on whether or not that type of bridge would set up and intonate properly.

So the necks will bend in opposite directions over time?

Good one Jay, I wish I would've thought of that! I could've used that line in the video.

@@bass-hiroshimanick2534 I just may have found that the best Gibson tree wood goes to make Kramer's! Wow. I'm glad Gibson didn't do something stupid with the Kramer brand. Just got a Kramer Baretta Special and it blew me away. I'm still baffled. $199 bucks of awesomeness! I have a new respect for Gibson in keeping Kramer alive and not changing a good thing. I'm back in the 80's all over again. Lol. 😆🎸🎸💯
