I have been in that corridor outside his office...the unique nature of those guitars is stunning. Immensely interesting guy and clearly a great leader for Fender.

This man is very smart and appears to be very honest. I would've had to ask him to open up about what the manufacturers really think about left handed guitars. Over the last few years the left handed options have gotten less and less to the point where there's almost nothing left as far as new models. I've tried to get answers via email and phone calls to Fender but I keep getting the same pre typed responses. I feel like this man more than anyone could actually explain the math to me. The way I see it is that 10% of people are left handed. And if only half of left handed people who play guitar actually play right handed, that's still 5% of the customer base. That has to equal millions of dollars a year. Yet we are practically ignored.

Are you left handed? I am left handed but play guitar righty. Do you struggle to find good fenders?
@capturelightmedia21 сағат бұрын
@ I am left handed and I play left handed. It's been almost 30 years now, so there's no going back. But sometimes I wish I would've started playing right handed maybe.
@capturelightmedia21 сағат бұрын
@ and yes I very much struggle to find left handed fenders. I mean, bog standard Strats and Teles are no problem. But anything interesting just doesn't exist.

great interview! i would have asked mr.money @ 14:37 “wait, when people are playing their ultra 2’s, do you think they’re pissed when they realize their Ultra 2 DOES NOT have stainless-steel frets?! will there be an ultra LUXE 2 that will feature the coveted metal guides for $800 more? or are there still so many of the one-size fits all sea-sick-green ultra luxe teles that fender needs to figure out what to do with them first? 😅 sorry. not sorry 😂🙃❤

as a user experience designer myself i love this. appreciate the ease of use on my micro plus. quick tip for fans: get a 1ft TS extension cable so the micro can be in front of you while in use, or on your lap or off to the side and not all the way at the bottom of your guitar. will be easier to use and save on the micro connector’s wear and tear. fender soft straps are so nice, i have one of every color. also the colorways for the player IIs are a home run!. hell yeah translucent blonde! is anyone at fender working on how to mass produce guitars finished in nitro with zero environmental impact? fender should get on that, patent the process, and then it’s basically free money until the patent expires. there won’t be time to contemplate how to promote acoustisonics when you’re working on how to keep up with the easy on the eye, instagram-ready pastel Player II’s (or pros, or ultras) finished in nitro. imagine how many fans will be overjoyed to to see their modern fender age gracefully from their own arm wear over time. it’s so obvious it hurts that fender is so close. i have faith that fender will seize the opportunity and go over the top. people will still shop the custom shop, different audience.

He mentions stainless steel frets on the Ultra II line yet I can't find any reference to that on their website.

The Ultra II is a great guitar. I wish SS frets were an option. Since the Ultra line doesn’t sell as much as there are still New Ultra I’s for sale make less of them but, make them with the SS frets.

Too many models of Stratocaster. Fender needs to offer fewer guitars, but with the option of two necks ... little frets, BIG frets. THAT from a player of 63 years, first guitar was a '54, second was a '64. And ditch the damn plastic covering and go back to nitro cellulose on all your instruments.
