I’m just glad he finally settled on a “finished” product! He started working with Fender on a signature Strat a LONG time ago. He’s had numerous prototypes that he’s been touring with for YEARS to figure out what his signature Strat was going to be. Each of his prototypes have been gigged so heavily, modded by his techs, and just played on so hard, they all look battered! And that’s not a custom shop relic job! Each of his prototypes looked brand new when he first received them. Honestly, with how long he’s been gigging with these prototypes, I thought he’d never actually get to the point of his signature Strat actually getting released!

People who aren't involved in a church might not know this, but there is a massive market of church/worship musicians out there. I can speak to this subculture of music. I'm a worship guitarist myself. Most of us do it as a hobby/in service to our local churches. Also, church guitar players typically go WAY into buying gear. That being said, reguardless of what you think of church or religion in general, this was a smart business move by Fender.
@neilpatrickhairless5 жыл бұрын
The biggest thing I don't understand is the difference between a "church/worship" guitar player and any other guitar player. Some even play extreme metal, so a lot of the alienation there seems a bit self-imposed.

Not surprising at all. While he did have a loyal following in the local punk scene before he turned to religion and if you know any old punkers in town, they will likely know who he is, even if they don’t know what happened to him and why he just “disappeared” years ago... Unless you regularly attend a church like Big Valley, First Baptist, Neighborhood, or Shelter Cove that plays a lot of contemporary Christian music during church events and during worship services and you actually pay attention to or find out what artist wrote the songs they play regularly ad nauseam, you wouldn’t have heard of him. He’s had quite a number of hit Christian songs, and dude is really talented. Still, he doesn’t play here hardly at all. The last time I did sound for him was at concert he did at Shelter Cove probably 5 years or so ago. Likely doesn’t at all like coming back here because prior to him finding religion, he was a hard core punk that did a lot of hard core drugs, and him being around his “old stomping grounds” probably isn’t the best when it comes to him keeping the right mindset to maintain sobriety. At least that’s my theory based on what I know about him.

Lincoln has been working on this guitar for AGES! I’ve run sound for him numerous times and he’d let me play his prototype that he’d have with him for any given tour. The first time I played with one of his prototypes was easily 12 YEARS ago! Hopefully after such a LONG time that he’s spent refining his design, it’s turned out good. Honestly, I’m willing to bet it’s one of the best Strats Fender currently offers. Lincoln is a players player. He pays attention to the small things and I could see him not compromising on anything unless it’s perfect to him. I hope I get a chance to check one out. Sadly, I’m doubtful even our Guitar Center has one in stock. Oh, this makes more sense when I let you know that I live in Modesto CA!
@kidwajagstang5 жыл бұрын
Actually, now that I’ve looked at the specs and see that it has the mid boost circuit, I honestly have to wonder if I didn’t influence that aspect of the design as the last time I ran sound for one of his shows a few years back his prototypes at the time did not have this feature and I was telling his guitar tech about how I have one in my Strat and how much versatility it added by being able to get those classic Strat clean tones AND be able to achieve FAR more distortion than normal without having to go one way or the other... hmmmm...
