I'm sold. I now need to find $999 to get it. I just got a '61 American Vintage II and it sounds like butter. I can't get enough of it... This Ensenada piece will round everything up. I was never sold on the Acoustasonic. I was never convinced by the acoustic sound of it, or the looks of the Strat version. These one though.. Does sound like a real guitar. These Fender guys keep pushing!

I've found my acoustasoinc jazzmaster to be super useful for touring & can get a really spot on acoustic tone with my kemper, but I can tell people in the audience are always like... "what is that thing the guitarist is playing and why does it look electric but sound acoustic" haha. This one feels more acoustic-y, looks more acoustic-y, and actually is more acoustic-y if that makes sense lol

Awesome playing, first of all. Secondly, as I just wrote in another comment elsewhere, I just came from my local Guitar Center, and right outside the "acoustic room" was a display with a couple of these on it. They caught my eye because they're so gorgeous! If you don't know, a lot of ukuleles are made with this sort of figured binding that looks like a basketweave or rope pattern around the edge. These guitars have that kind of edge treatment (though it's hard to even call it an edge, because it's so rolled), that's most likely painted on rather than inlaid, but did I say it's gorgeous? The overall design, the build quality, the fit and finish, from what I could see. The sound as an acoustic was really "present," just lacking in overall depth and volume. I didn't actually plug it in, I wasn't shopping for anything like this, and that's why I came to check out these videos. So I loved your playing, I think you said the right stuff about the instrument, and I'll check out that Jung Kook video. Thanks!

sounds great as always, diggin the little homage to lage in there. love this design WAY more over the acoustisonic. I know you said you loved it, but I felt like the acoustisonic was the worst of both worlds as far as electric/acoustic goes. Great demo, would love to see/hear more original music!! even if youre just noodling around, i learned so much from watching you play back in the day.

Nice overview. I've watched a number of YT videos regarding the Fender Highway guitars. I do want one, but now my problem is do I get the Parlor or the Dreadnought. I'm leaning towards the Parlor. What guage strings do you use and what kind of amp do you play it through?
@TheDonutDoctor

I spent a good amount of time playing both, and I favor the Parlor, but thats just me. I'm used to playing smaller sized guitars in general, so im more partial to the Parlor size! Stock strings on this guitar, i believe .11? I say send it!!

I 100% agree. It actually sounds like a real acoustic guitar not an electronic high tech artificial sounding wannabe. You can not fake the organic detail in the sound you get from the real deal no matter if it is indeed small and humble like this guitar. THANX for the demo.

If the reason for the pickup being the shape it is is because it's the perfect spot for an acoustic pickup, then why is this the only pickup Fishman makes that looks like that? Wouldn't all of them look like that?

I have an acoustasonic tele. Not totally crazy about the acoustic sound when plugging in direct to record. Not totally crazy about the sound of my Taylor direct when recording. How does this do? I know there is a parlor and a dread----people are talking that that the dread is "bigger" --but I haven't found any overall dimension specs-- I've played parlors that were indeed much smaller/shorter than comparable dreads--but the photoslon the various sites look like they are they same length. Is it just that the dread shape displaces more volume?

My 2 cents are as follows, I have never liked the sound of an electric guitar and even though most of my friends collect and play them, they never interested me. I admit that they look and sound cool, but I find them to be less musical in their voice and much more unpleasant like the noise of someone yelling. I have always enjoyed the sound of an acoustic guitar and classical guitar and think they sound amazing. So not surprisingly, I don't like the sound of the Fender Highway at all when plugged in. To me it doesn't sound like an acoustic guitar at all, and I feel it loses all it's rich sound and character. It sounds like any other electric guitar. However, when you played it unplugged, without the pickup and just in front of the microphone it sounded fantastic and I really enjoyed hearing it's voice.
