Wow! Surprising! Had to pull out the studio headphones for this one - seems like the vintera has a fuller sound in general but Squier really showed well to my ears. Great videos! Keep em coming!

I would like to see p bass, Mexican, American, and Japan going head to head against each other and the prices and playability of each one, if u can consider everything in one video will be amazing, and give your personal opinion about which one u will prefer from a buyer perspective

The difference is really extra subtle, they both sound the same if you don't pay attention. I am glad I got a black Squier CV 60's, with that pick-guard it looks beautiful and classic. The neck profile feels great, it is overall a well balanced shape. I tried a modern Affinity model in a shop, and the neck is this tiny stick at first two frets and then it becomes an ultra wide flat plank at the 12th, that discouraged me from buying one. The 60's model neck feels perfect, and also love the amber colored lacquer, not the absolutely white fresh modern necks that look like toothpick material, haha.

What's astounding to me is how very close both sound to each other. I do detect a slight "fuller" sound with the Vintera over Classic Vibe, but it is splitting hairs really. I would gig with either one without hesitation. Great review Anthony 👏

They sound similar , but I would say the vintera is better or more accurate sounding. Yeah vintera is pretty impressive.

Thanks for this video! I live in a rural area, so I don't have a local music shop that's within an hour to go by and test different basses out.

This Squier Classic Vibe line really delivers. I don't hear much of a difference, it's even as if the Squier has a bit more punch. In the mix nobody will notice the difference. I have the CV 50's p-bass, with chromes on it, that's an awesome package too. Great demoing again Anthony.

The PV 63 is smooth. It’s one of my top 3 precision pickups. It produces a rich mid frequency response that works with a vintage lo fi tone. The Fralin is nice. It has an upper mid frequency tone spike that adds clarity when the tone knob is set to 0. It lets you hear the attack of the note. Both are great pickups. Different tools for different tones.

I've got a 70s vintera jazz and let me tell you this bass is tied with one of my old EBMM Sterlings for "best bass ive ever owned" the secrets really in the WEIGHT and the PICKUPS... it seemed like by going "Natural Amber" was a good choice as its perhaps as resonant of an instrument as you can get. Really close to perfect. Not surprised, being as their electronics are all Made in America.

The American Standard bass produces a warm tone.

I can’t hear enough of a difference to warrant buying one over the other. If you’re cool with Squier, save the money. If you want a Fender, these Vintera instruments are about as close to a USA Fender as you’re going to get without shelling out some serious bank, in my opinion. Either sounds great. And, if you’re recording, nobody will have any idea if you played a Squier or a Fender.

Could you do the Squier Classic Vibe 50s vs the Fender Vintera 50s precision bass? I know they have physical differences, the squier is based off of a 1954-56 precision whereas the fender is based off of a 1957-59 precision, I just think it would be cool to showcase the differences. Great playing man!!

Got a Squier vibe 60 pretty happy with it going to add quarter pound pick ups along with a dusty hill bridge I put more$$ towards amp and cabs then I do my axe that's just my thing

Let us know how that goes, I'd be intersted to know. Ive got the CV Squier, and pretty happy with the stocks
@englewoodrecords28727 ай бұрын
There’s not enough difference to justify the price difference, so, one must decide if the Fender logo on the headstock is worth the difference in price? If you’re looking at resell value, the Fender is a better value, but if you’re planning on keeping it, buy the CV.

Hi Anthony! Could you do a comparison between Squire CV Jaguar bass and the Fender Player Jaguar bass? I'm looking to buy my first bass, but I'm not sure if I should invest a bit more cash on the Fender or go for the Squire, since I'm only just starting out. Cheers.
@stephenhookings19852 жыл бұрын
My first bass was Squier Classic Vine Short Scale (got it relatively late in life). I made a review of it on my channel. Deffo neck dive - high mass bridge reduces this. Just my take - do you believe you will buy one bass and stick with that? Get.tje Fender for the kudos and after sale value. Or do you like collecting the things, modifying them, setting them up as per Dave's World of Fun Stuff? Try some expensive ones in the shop, find the cheapest bass with similar balance and mod the crap out of it. Very soon you will have a collection of colours and styles with no space ... One of the best feeling basses I have is a J & D £125 surf green bass with EMGs added - didn't need.mucj setup and feels / plays great. There again the Sire basses are some of the most comfortable basses - neck in particular. So Fender or 4 or more basses that, if you can set them up, will all play great with all the fun of experimentation. SX basses are also cheap, decent and easy to get in US.

The hardware on the squier won't last as long, even the frets are softer! They both sound great though.

I’m not listening with my wallet when I say there’s a noticeable difference between the two. The Fender definitely has a more round tone. I like them both, but the Vintera wins this round.

Please, emphasise in your comparison video's on the quality feel and take the time to explain the specs. What is a c shaped neck, what other fender necks ar there, what plays the best for which style of music. Do not be afraid to talk a bit more and play a bit less. Remember that every bassist sculps his sound according to his style of music, his amp and so on. So with al due respect your playing is rarely relevant. Remember also that lots of folks watch those videos on a laptop, or worse, a tablet or a smartphone. And that is not ideal to get an idea of how an instrument really sounds.

The Squier sounded better and it sounded like it would be better for recording setting the only reason why the Venterra seemed like it had a fuller sound is because of the Pau Ferro fretboard it has a higher frequency it doesn’t absorb as much of the frequency as the Rosewood. That being said the squire was a lot tighter astounding to me the Venterra was for but had a lot of unnecessary highs but like I said that’s simply because of the Pau Ferro fretboard
@stephenhookings19852 жыл бұрын
I stuck a maple fingerboard fretless neck on my CV. Clearly everyone's taste is personal but the Daphne Blue CV with mint (or white) pick guard and maple fretless fingerboard is voll porno. The neck was not proper Fender spec so a lot of grief to fit it. I need to make an updated video because that cheap neck sure needed to settle. I also put EMG J bass pickups on - the battery just fits under the control plate.
@Bucky-742 жыл бұрын
I also thought the squire sounded better. Less high end. Rounder.
@bobt57783 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't gig a Squier. The overall quality of the materials and the solder joints are not as robust as the Mexican or American made. Between rehearsals and shows instruments tend to take a lot of bangs and bumps. Squiers do sound pretty darn good though (I own two of them).
@GospelBluesMan3 жыл бұрын
Maybe the Affinity Series is not too gig worthy but you should have no problem with the Classic Vibe series .
@wbertie26042 жыл бұрын
You can easily go in and tidy up the solder joints before gigging if really necessary.

I gave this video a 👎🏾 only because you only explored fingerstyle playing and did not highlight pick playing nor thump & snap style playing. But over all, I like the Squire ❤
@Buckers22029 ай бұрын
I definitely agree on the pick playing, I love hearing basses compared with a pick as to my ear it highlights the differences more clearly
