Video of pickup replacement, refret and nut making for this guitar • Fender Stratocaster In...
I refinished a friend's Fender Mexico Stratocaster.
Here it is! He sent me to make a Strat like this guitar: / bnhetypggkg
It turned out a little different, but I think it turned out pretty much like this.
Guitarist Shunnosuke Kaneko: / @user-kh4ce5zx5m
All lacquer, of course! It's the same lacquer I've always used, so it'll get more old school as time goes on... I'm sure!
I'll let you know how it looks after a few years.
It's been a while since I refinished a regular paint job.
It's been about a year since I've done one.
The image I received was of an aluminum pickguard, so I simply said, "Let's make a pickguard out of machined aluminum," and it was very difficult.
Pink, pink, pink, and strawberry milk.
And surf green. Surf green, surf blue, and other light colors are popular.
In my opinion.
It's a hard color for painters, though.
It turned out nice.
Also, I got a friend to play it for me. I did it!
My friend's channel: / @user-kh4ce5zx5m
There are a lot of guitars I've tinkered with there, so please check it out.
Thank you very much for your request. Thanks again!

ちょっと違う雰囲気になったけど大体こんな感じになったかな。
ギタリスト金子シュンノスケ
/ syunnosukekaneko
/ @user-kh4ce5zx5m

Jose Soto Theoretically, the wood of a solid body guitar affects the tone and sustain by how much and which frequencies it absorbs from string vibration. The paint that sits between the wood and for example the bridge could also have similar effect. I wouldn’t argue how important the species of wood is, but something like plastic vs wood should sound different in a meaning way.
@PrimalEmissary
@PrimalEmissary 4 жыл бұрын
cyrfung thank you for using the word “absorbs” I think the majority of people have it backwards... Different woods absorb different frequencies they don’t create any. Companies like aristidies guitars though are not made of wood but sound and play amazing... so I’m not sure lol

I did when I dinged my strat pretty good. The dent is deeper than you’d expect, because of how thick the several layers paint is. It’s like the thickness of a pick guard.
@Olsen-vp5vg
@Olsen-vp5vg 4 жыл бұрын
cyrfung yup, it’s called dampening. I have explained this so many times to people, and many refuse to accept it. If you had a bone but and a brass bridge, but the rest of the guitar was made of rubber it sure as shit would have a different tone. Tone woods may not have a massive effect on electric guitars, but oscillating strings are not a closed system, so they do have an impact. Hell if you can feel the guitar vibrate after striking a chord, there is energy loss occurring, and higher frequencies decay first, of course material properties affect tone!

Just a note to anyone else wanting to do this. If all you're after is a color change, a poly finish can take paint quite well as long as it is fine sanded a little so the new paint can stick. There's not need to go through all the work of stripping it back and then prepping it, and the bonus is you already have a very smooth finish to start with as a base.

Great video & great paint job! Leo Fender perfected this "bolt-on neck" design LONG ago. However, having built a bunch of these Mexi-Strats, I can say that replacing the stamped saddles with solid brass or stainless steel units is a super improvement. They sound better and are FAR more comfortable. Also, that metal pickguard will shield the pick-ups better against noise. Lining the body routings with copper tape will complete the job. It will help reduce hum & noise noticeably. Finally, I always add a body protector under the neck plate. They save the body from being dented or getting paint cracks. In some cases, they improve low- and mid-range attack.

I'm glad the paint came off so easily on your body, but for anyone wanting to try this, try not to pull up on the paint too much. I heated mine up, it was coming up just fine and then a splinter pulled up along the grain and ruined my plans to do a burst. It doesn't take much, as I pulled the loose piece of wood off the paint. I found it best to push instead of pulling up. Learn from my stupid mistake!
