Fun facts about The Ventures: 1. They actually have 60+ studio albums, 30+ live albums and 80+ compilation albums. They claim to have recorded at least 3,000 songs and to have written over 1,000 songs. With more than 120 million record sales, they are the top selling instrumental band of all time. 2. In Japan, where they have toured extensively for decades, The Ventures are one of the most successful foreign bands. In the 1960s, they claim to have outsold The Beatles 2 to1 in Japan. 3. The Ventures are not a California band. They formed in 1958 in Tacoma Washington, which is not exactly a Mecca for surfers. 4. George T. Babbitt, Jr. joined the band in the late 50s as their first drummer, but unfortunately he had to drop out of the band in 1960, just before they recorded their big hit, Walk, Don't Run, because he was too young to play the bar gigs that the band was getting. Almost 40 years later in 1998, Babbitt was invited to sit in with the band and play a show. He played the show in his full military uniform, as he had become a higly decorated, four star Airforce General in the years following his departure from the band.

The video is still as cool as it was when you first put it up 3 years ago. As a huge Aqua Bats fan, surf rock player, and Fender guy, this video hit all of the bases. Ian even has his guitar set up to Johnny Marr specs, the only Fender guitar I want that I don't already own. I'll definitely pick one up in the future, I'm just waiting for the factory to make them in Lake Placid blue again. As a big Smith's fan, that will round out my Fender collection.

Just for the record, The Ventures did a lot of covers for the first few albums until they started cranking out their own originals. Then they settled into a pattern of twelve songs per album. Six originals, six covers. He says they made 30 of 40 albums. Try over 250 throughout their career. They were HUGE in Japan and created music exclusively for that market.

The upper circuit is a darker tone because it is designed for jazz. It is not a 'bullshit circuit', rhythm circuit or kill switch. Jaguars sound best with thicker flattwound strings. Use those and then the upper circuit makes sense for jazz, the lower circuit sounds pretty meaty and the low-cut switch gives a genuinely useable thinner tone. Thin gauge roundwound strings make the guitar sound like an ice pick, and with them hte upper circuit doesn't make sense.

Im sure ill make some enemies on this fender channel saying this, but if you move away from the squires you can get a reproduction Jazzmaster that even has the p90 based jazzmaster pickups, that really gave it the iconic tones it has, from Harley Benton for 155$ plus like 80$ shipping, im sure if you want perfect action and intonation, you would need to have it properly set up unless you are good enough to intonate and do truss rod adjustments (ive not seen any review where truss adjustment was needed tho, and intonation is usually nearly perfect out of the box), usually comes with action at around 1.8mm, but it drops down to 1.5mm or lower with no and it has a LP style tune-o-matic bridge, which a purist would want to replace with a fender bridge, (I like the tune-o-matic for comfortable palm muting), and most important you would want to drop in real fender jazzmaster pickups, although the reproduction ones are made to spec, just with cheap chinese materials, but they arent bad, better than the squires strat sounding single coil, but nothing gives you the tone and clean sound of a JM, you hear every note in a chord, even with heavy overdrive.

You should try the Strymon Flint. It is an incredibly accurate emulation of the 63 tanks, if anything you can get more drip and splash out of it then the tanks because you can crank the dwell up

The signal doesn't dlow electrinically through the springs, thats a factual error. The sound travels acoustically through the springs and are converted back to en electrical signal by a pick-up attached to the springs.

I use a Fender Mustang III 100 watt amp. I don't use any effects pedals and the built in reverb effect is pretty spot on. I don't how it compares to a tube amp but I'm pretty sure that it'll do the trick until you get something better. I'm pretty happy with mine, but I would like to step up to a tube amp eventually. As for price range, I'm not sure because mine was given to me, but I think that they're about couple hundred dollars plus any shipping charges that might be included.
