Hey, I've got a 2013 American standard telecaster which came with custom shop pickups, individual saddles, tummy cut, compound radius fingerboard with channel binding. All for $1700Cdn. Everything old is new again! (and costs twice as much!)

I wanted the Texas Tea, but that doesn’t seem to go on sale as often as the white and blue versions. So I just ordered the Cobra Blue, my second favorite, with a pretty big discount. Can’t wait to get it!

I own an American Ultra in Arctic Pearl. The modern D 10-14" compound radius neck is by far the nicest I've ever played. The chrome over brass bridge, locking tuners, S1 switch, great electronics and the Ultra Noiseless vintage pickups are the cherry on top tho! Super craftsmanship as well.

I own a bunch of Strats including Ultras and a couple of Custom Shops, as well as a Suhr Custom Shop. My Ultra Tele - identical to yours - has the best neck out of all of them.

Thank you for the review. I have been playing for almost 50 years and with only a couple of exceptions, I have always preferred a Fender Stratocaster or Gibson Les Paul, ES-335 or SG, and found myself shying away from the Telecaster style guitars until I recently received from Sweetwater the Texas Tea with Rosewood Fretboard version of the Fender Ultra Telecaster. It, too, was received in perfect condition. I've found this guitar to be one of the best sounding, easiest, and most enjoyable playing, most outstanding designed, and best constructed guitars made by any manufacturer. As far as I am concerned, this guitar is the equivalent of a Grand Slam in Baseball.

just ordered the Mystic Pine w Ebony board from CME, figured i got a decent price (1650) while the mkt's down (i should've haggled more, i know i coulda gotten it lower, but oh well, nothing really actually sells used these days but the normal colorways of it are listed online used for what i paid new, and w the ebony board and fsr colorway i shouldn't have to take tooo much a bath if i don't get along w it. tho i don't see why i wouldn't!) thx for the review!

Great specs! My favorite things are the electronics, pickups, neck compound radius and color. Least favorite (not a deal breaker) are the belly and neck pocket cuts. Love me a squared off Telecaster. She sounds awesome!!!

Just got my Texas t about a month ago.Been experiment and playing out with it and getting really familiar with the neck.I love the neck on mine roasted. With rosewood finger board , absolutely love this guitar I've played some really nice Tellies but this one take it to another level where the push button to bring it in like a humbucker can you get some really good Outlaw sounds in southern rock sounds and very very clean sounds

That’s really a nice Tele. Routed for a humbucker and a middle pickup. I bet the bridge is routed for a humbucker, too. That color is simply amazing.

ULTRA! YES! I’ve been playing my Cobra blue Ultra for almost a year now and it’s my #1 guitar! I recently had it Pleked by Sweetwater and it made a great playing guitar into an awesome guitar! The Ultra is just a fantastic guitar all the way around! I had a Tele Elite that I sold after playing the Ultra because the feel was much better to me. Glad to see that you have one also. The only thing I’ve changed since buying it was the pickguard to a black pearlized one to darken the overall look of the guitar.

I've played at least 2 dozen ultras at my job and they all feel SO good but im just not a fan of the noiseless pickups and the anodized pickguard is tricky. if you are playing fingerstyle its easy to scratch your nails on it and it feels like scratching a chalkboard i HATE it

I used Flitz metal cleaner/polish on my pickguard and it doesn't have the rough chalkboard feel anymore. It took a few applications to make it feel smooth though.

Enjoyed this. The binding really makes the Tele look eloquent. Not a big fan of metal flake on guitars so would prefer another flavor, but that blue is eye candy for sure. The tones are definitely there, don’t get the hate for the Fender noiseless pups?

Nice review! Agreed... I've had five teles... affinity, CV, American performer, American pro II, and now an ultra in Texas tea. The ultra feels much more refined. There is no comparison with the other ones I've had the ultra just like waaaay better. They were all great though, except for the affinity was terrible. My second favorite was my performer...it almost felt and sounding the same except the performer neck pickup was much clearer of playing then side by side but the overdrive on the ultra is fuller sounding. I loved them all but sold all and kept the ultra maybe because it is so sleek and beautiful...

Man that Tele is gorgeous! Almost TOO pretty for a workhorse guitar like a Tele. I was surprised by that spanky Strat-like tone you got out of it, too. Congrats on the beautiful guitar. Very well produced video too, by the way.

That is a Righteous Axe Man. I did notice the ferrules were a straight line, but intonation never is. Look at the saddles. I thought the wiring could have been neater. Loved the body contours though. Makes others look outdated.

I absolutely love everything about the ultra American series except the modern d neck profile, I cannot get along with that neck profile to watch shoulders on the neck. Even though it was rolled edges. It really did hurt my fingers. Gripping around the wide shoulders. Everything was perfect but the neck profile.

My disappointment with the Ultra line is almost none of the better color options have Rosewood as an option. That sucks.

One thing sure is: That color Cobra Blue is absolutely stunning. I had Ultra Strat HSS Cobra Blue, sold it couple months ago because I prefer 70s CBS era large head strats.I actually wised I could own both Cobra blue Strat and the Tele same as yours showing on this video. It was about a year ago, but now I don't. If I had enough money and space to collect another guitar, I'd rather buy American Vintage II 1973 strats or Vintera II 70s strats. NO MORE ULTRA SERIES IN MY LIFE.

Great guitar. I own a Fender Ultra Luxe with a Ash body which has the same specs plus stainless steel frets. Love the Atari shirt as well. Brings back great memories being a teenager in the 80's 😊

The Ultra series seems to be like what a concept car is for Mercedes. The kitchen sink as far as "improvements" and breaking from tradition. Untraditional body contours, fretboard radius and contour, noiseless pickups, unique pickup configuration and bridge, electrosocket, metal decal... just everything.... whereas the AmPro is about making the best traditional tele possible.
