Welcome to the second video in a new series of tutorial videos taking you on a full flight from Manchester to Prague. Each of these tutorials is designed and based on real world procedures used by A320 pilots around the globe to make your flight simulator experiences as realistic as possible.
**NOTE** - Due to an error with the audio at the end, the final couple of minutes of this video can be seen at the start of Part 3 of this tutorial series, with the correct audio in place.
Episode 2:- This episode takes you full a full MCDU set up in the A320 for our flight from Manchester to Prague. We go in detail through each stage of the setup including using the Secondary Flight Plan for our Engine Out procedure. We also then look at doing accurate performance calculations for departure.

A tip for others like me, that use SIMBRIEF but doesn't have an AIRAC subscription, and uses AIRAC 2103 (or other old), that uses a different type of LatLong coordinates and by that reason is not able to import flightplan for FMC (Fenix returns the message INVALID F-PLN UPLINK. After a contact with Fenix support, kindly replied by them in short time, I found the soution. They confirm that they located a bug when importing some formats of LatLong coordinates. They have determined the ARINC 424 shorthand coordinates will import without any issues. As a workaround while we work on fixing this bug, wu must convert LatLong coordinates into this shorthand format as explained below: Placement of the letter designator (N, S, E, W) in the string of five characters indicates the value of the longitude one-hundredths digit The letter in the last position indicates longitude is less than 100 The letter in the third position indicates longitude is 100 or greater Examples: N 52 00/W 075 00 = 5275N N 75 00/W 170 00 = 75N70 S 50 00/E 020 00 = 5020S N 50 00/E 020 00 = 5020E S 52 00/W 075 00 = 5275W Gav, please feel free to remove this my comment, if you understand as not appropriate to be included in your channel.

Some questions if anyone can assist: 1. Flight number vs call sign. I understand what was said, but slightly confused because at least on VATSIM it sounds like everyone simply uses their flight as their callsign? 2. What is "tropo" I didn't understand that bit (On Init A) 3. I keep getting entries called "MANUAL" which I seem to need to CLR out. What's the deal with these and why am I getting them? How SHOULD I handle them? 4. I noticed your "greeen speeds" in INIT B were slightly different than the calculations, and this happens to me as well. Why? Observations: 1. Damn didn't realize the loadsheet had more pages haha.. I was wondering why it didn't seem to show me everything I needed, so glad I caught this! 2. In the past I could never get the alternate fuel to enter, but I was also putting in my planned block fuel first so maybe I had the procedure backwards. Going to try this again. I was also just entering the value from simbrief rather that letting the AC tell me what it wants so I was doing that wrong! 3. I've encountered some airports like TNCA don't have runways in the Departure Perf app so not able to do the calculations at all :(

I've recently come across an old training video for American Airlines and apparently, in the real airbus, when you enter the cruise flight level and temp you don't need to press the "minus" key as the system logic recognises the value entered must be a negative and will add the minus itself. I've tried this in the Fenix and it works which shows just how much attention to detail the Fenix team have payed in developing the A320 when even tiny details like that are accurately modelled

Thank you for an as usual amazing video. Do you know if the Fenix EFB allows for a "custom" runway length. The reason I ask, most airports I have flown to with it don't have the intersection options listed in the Fenix TO calculator, but they are on the Navigraph airport charts. I would like to be able to put distances in myself, but I cannot figure out how. Especially thank you for the Secondary F-Plan portion of this video. Very detailed, thank you. So I always assumed for the block fuel I take the number from the simbrief OFP (+ discretionary reserves) but you take the number the aircraft calculates in Fuel Planning. I was wondering, what is closer to how it works in reality. What is the "minimum fuel" calculation that you trust. Is it also from the fmgc Fuel Planning, or from an OFP?
@Easyjetsimpilot
@Easyjetsimpilot 2 жыл бұрын
Hello. No, not quite. Please watch again. The fuel planning in the MCDU is what the aircraft THINKS you'll need to complete the flight. However, it doesn't take into account poor weather at your destination, lots of traffic so holding might be required, APU or anti ice being on for longer than normal etc. Only you the pilot know this.
@voju
@voju 2 жыл бұрын
@@Easyjetsimpilot I understood that part, but I guess what I was wondering is the OFP also has a fuel calculation (that also doesn't take into account these operational factors) so I guess I was wondering why we let the airplane calculate this again when the OFP already has such a calculation?

Some experience from my side - note that if you upgrade your CPU / Motherboard, the Fenix program will not run when you login. I read this is linked to DRM, I contacted Fenix asking them for help, no response after 3 days. So be aware you may have to repurchase if you upgrade / change your computer in the future.

HELP PLEASE !!! If i copy and paste the above flight route into Simbrief, i then generates 3 errors. Error: Fix or airway "F370" not found. Error: Fix or airway "SANBA1R" not found. Error: Fix or airway "LOMKI6P" not found. (This is using AIRAC 2205) If this route IS valid, then why does Simbrief flag up these errors ?????

@@DisneyTomWright I would try to generate it in Simbrief from scratch. Add the DEP and ARR and ALT with the Fenix A320 airframe and the EZY OFP-Format. Look at the routes below in the Simbrief and select the one that Gavin used to see if it generates. Perhaps copying-pasting has an issue. Nothing to lose.

@@enriqueosuna Yes interesting: If i manually input the route to Simbrief of "EGCC/23R LKPR/12" and Analyze the route - I get "Your route is valid for AIRAC 2205!". I guess it is very difficult to get back to the FBW after trying out the Fenix A320. FBW A320NX is a wonderful freeware aircraft and kept MSFS alive for close to two years, so I hope they continue, but they are still far away from getting the A320NX to the sophistication of the Fenix airbus.

Ahhhhhh!!!! What the bloody hell happened at the end with the confused narration. This was over the most important bit of the final load sheet that needed explaining. Might be worth re-doing that bit on its own as it's the key to all of the data. 😭 At 15:28 just round up to the nearest 100 kgs for alternate fuel. No need to round up 2-300 kgs more from the OFP. You want this data in the INIT B page to be as accurate as possible to give you real figures you can use. Round up, but don't overdo it! 👍 At 21:45 you said the runway was dry! Read the BLOODY METAR!!! 🙄🙄🙄 At 32:20, EO SID distance. Do you think you can get an engine secure, level off and accelerate to above 1500 ft in 10nm?? Especially if you're quite heavy and its hot??? Don't forget the MSA is worked out up to 25nm away. Theres no harm in having an EO SID waypoint a bit further out. Just so you can activate the secondary when you get a chance and still fly straight ahead to that EOSID waypoint. Then once you've secured the engine and you're above 1500 ft, you can then turn direct to your holding fix. You don't want to be turning earlier than you need to which could happen if the EOSID waypoint is too close. Be creative with the name. You can call it whatever. EOSID, EFAIL, WHOPS, BANG etc etc! 🤪 At 32:36. Correct about the GA track being displayed. Just think about it though. Would you really want to do a convoluted GA procedure if you're single engine? Or would you just prefer to ask ATC and say "Can I just climb straight ahead to 3000 ft in the event of a missed approach?" They may give it to you, they may not. But you can make it a lot easier. Obviously you'd need to discuss this as part of your arrival brief / failure management discussion when the time comes. 😉

I find the planning part of the flight simulator and simbrief annoying. There is like 98% of no needed information that most people don't even know what is. And like me, seeing more KZbin videos than playing just to get the route in without failure. I think I'm just telling what many think!
