As a Fenix junkie, my all time favorite, is...the...E30R...SO SMALL, yet SO POWERFUL! Just unbelievable. It's either on me, or on my bed a night, next to my pillow. All the other models just hang out together, in the dark.

I just got the pd36 tac. The tail cap is interchangeable with the pd36r pro ,and tk20r. The result is a shorter length.

I know this a year old video but I just bought this light with the Fenix black Friday sales. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I love both the SFT40 and SFT70 LEDs, the green tints don't both me one bit.

FENIX. They do everything well. The build quality is top notch. Lights feel substantial (I have the TK16). But, what I think is hurting them....or preventing them from being top dog is their ODD UI. Fenix lights (to my knowledge) is the only brand who do not include "firefly mode " period. Very essential and basic to any light. And not having "instact access to Turbo via 2-clicks". Making buying another not a possiblity. Oddly some aspects of UI should be "standardiszed" but isn't. Nor is there a standarized FF, L, M H and T number range/spacing....it's all over the place....

I'm not sure a ui needs to be standardized across an entire company, but within a line it would make sense. I wish they had emitter options on the edc lights at least

They should allow you to program function button. Some ppl like myself use momentary turbo far more often than momentary strobe. Would be nice to have the choice. Win win for everyone

After having the Surefire tactician and carrying the Fenix the Surefire doesnt have good throw..its good upclose the Fenix you could see further it depends what you want.

Fantastic review, well articulated and very informative. IMO the PD36R beam profile is very well balanced, with just the right amount of flood and throw. Curious to see if the Pro’s beam profile is any different. Keep up the great reviews!

If you want a longer Beam Throw the TK16 v2. If you want a more pocket friendly light with a wider beam and shorter throw than the Pd36r is a good choice.

No, most higher quality flashlights like this Fenix don't have a feature like that because it makes to many compromises and optimizes nothing. Zoomies are generally considered to be bad.

I think the Fenix pd36r is better. It's a slimmer design, easier to pocket carry. Single led has better beam profile. Usb c charging.

I have a layman's question, in every video I see the person shows the flashlight charging cable, where it connects to the flashlight and they never show where the other end goes. Do I still have to buy a charger in addition to the flashlight? If I have to buy it, is it a proprietary charger from the company or can it be used by anyone?

Most are a USB-A on the other side, you probably have some around the house, as it's the most common usb port. Most lights now will charge with USB-c to C so your phone chargers work too.

Is being "cool white" a bad thing? I noticed you mention this at the end of the video as a negative.

It's a personal preference myself and many enthusiasts share. Colors are less accurate and more washed out. Some might argue it's harder on the eyes?

Such a nice light with such craptastic LED choice! Low CRI, terrible tint and nasty cool white. There really is no reason for this in 2022. Tons of better choices they could have used here....SST20 -4000k, Nichia 519a 3500k-5000k.

Well, as a tactical, patrol light, you need high cct to gain lumens, and bring the shock factor to whoever at the bussiness end of the light. you dont want to give any sense of comfort with the sweet warmth of hi cri and low cct to the suspect you seek in the shadow.

@@LiquidRetro naaah, I purchased a protac 2.0 from Streamlight; it gives me 2,000 lumens for two hours and almost 30 minutes; does get hot but doesn't burn me and does NOT step down. Also, I got a protac HL 5x 3,500 lumens from Streamlight and that sucker gives me 75 minutes of powerful light WITHOUT stepping down. I've had Fenix flashlights but don't use them no more after finding these Streamlight ones.
