Great review! Fenix PD40R v3 is the most satisfying flashlight I have used recently. I particularly like it's operation style & size, the powerful SFT-70 and the perfect lampshade curvature of the PD40R v3 achieve a nice balance between floodlight and spotlight, love it!

Just coming back from the woods at night where I tested side by side : Seeker 4 pro Olight, Marauder Mini Olight, MT2A pro Nitecore / incredible smallest thrower with 2 AAA only), and Fenix PD 36R. Very diverse mix I admit, but I was surprised with the result! Winner for me PD40R: lighter, more versatile because it bring the best mixed of throw and spill for less Thant 200Gs! Just amazing. the Marauder is an above, (and as a great dedicated throw, color mode) but in daily conditions, not that huge of difference to me taking in account the huge weight difference. Olights are beautifully designed, with great UI, but the rotary ring is so straight forward to use. I'm not 100% sure, but I thing the seeker pro boost mode drops quicker than the Fenix. seeker pro throw cannot compete with PD40, and seeker spill is not making a huge difference to me. So I'll send back my 2 Olights and will keep the PD. One mistake in your video : batterie size are different (but same 5000 capacity). One thing to know: once the charge led starts blinking meaning your batterie gets below 85% boost mode is almost similar to high mode - too bad. one last tip: I've tweaked the rotary ring of the PD40 V2 with some tooth pick cut and taped around every inch with a strong tape (gaffer in the world of photography) Now I got an even more responsive feel than the V3, not fancy looking but quite ok, a bit bulkier but the feeling is just 10 times better! (even with wet hands /gloves - So far: Fenix pd 40 V2 has my pref. would love they can make a battery where you still have the boost mode btw 50 and 85% - thanks for the great review!

Another great review, thanks. Happy to see v3 ring now has vertical grip notches. Still would like to see tail switch for on,off so you don't have to cycle through each light level. Also I have always felt the s.o.s. and strob must output at max lumens to capture maximum attention. Rg

USB-C charging port hidden/protected in the sleeve? Or the old style rubber seal thing?

@@flashlightcrazy Hmmm 🤔 after viewing several videos on this light it seems clear that the charging port is not covered in the sleeve. It’s external and adjacent to the power indicator light covered with the old style rubber stopper. Such an advanced light yet still using an inferior port cover. 🤷‍♂️

Just started watching this, that V2 is a piece of crap. When i got mine i thought it was faulty as it wouldn't hit turbo if the battery wasn't over 85% charged. Sold it 1 week later.

@@flashlightcrazy I brought this to a lot of reviewers at the time of release. Many did follow up videos. The V3 has apparently fixed this. Fenix confirmed it was normal for the V2 to not hit turbo if the battery is not 85% or more. Check out @wildstuff channel here and read his update.
