Excellent video George, I don't think I could think of a more down to earth guy to spend the day filming and chatting with, a superb video.

Man, you've been an inspiration to me, Mick... my nephew got me into pike fishing at first but when I started watching you on the telly & learned the right way to do it... I was well hooked !! My PB today is 28lbs and at 65y.o. I'll struggle to beat that... particularly given the decimation of pike stocks from eastern europeans eating everything they catch... but I shall soldier on, deadbaiting is such a relaxing yet unpredictable form of fishing... Tight lines to all here & thanks Mick.. 😎👍☘️🍺

Very interesting Mick actually caught the same pike twice in this video. The fish at 18:40 is exactly the same as the first one at 5:45. Notice that it is missing a piece of its gill cover on its right side

How much did it cost for Mick to fish for the day ? I heard its £600 + if he does sections to camera as well ?
@fenlandfisherman9 жыл бұрын
Elitekiller72 Hello - I believe Mick did charge for guided sessions (no idea of the cost or whether he still does), but this wasn't a paid for session, so I'm afraid I have no idea how much it would cost for you to film with him. Many Thanks Fenland

Nice fish for sure. I enjoy working baits for pike, jerk baits being my favorite, and top water lures!! I think i would go mad with boredom just sitting there waiting for a hit. Is this how most people fish for pike where you guys live??? I'm in Ontario, Canada.
@openwaterfishing650610 жыл бұрын
I´m not sure how many there are in England but here in Germany for Example there are a lot people who fish for pike like this with deadbait the whole year. But these are mostly the older people. I love it to go in Spring, Summer and early Fall to go with Big Lures like Magnum sized Bulldawgs for Pike on a Musky-Rod. And Topwater baits are really awesome, too. But when it gets colder in Fall and Winter I take my Rods and go Deadbaiting. In modern (european) Carpfishing its a lot between you and nature, perhaps more than catching fish. There are a lot moments for me when i go with BigBaits for Pike, i enjoy working these Baits by Casting and Cast again, but then i take a few minutes just to enjoy whats around me, the weather, the water, everything what the nature shows me. I think its not so easy to have this moments with nature when you cast and concentrate on your lure the hole time, for me. You say it good, i know a lot of people who would get mad and bored by deadbaiting but i know a lot too who couldnt enjoy casting. In Pikefishing i make this between them partly Casting partly Deadbaiting.

MrJcrandall7 I am from Manitoba and I do the same thing as you however I use jerkbaits and soft plastics, The best lure that can be made into a jerkbait by a simple technique change is the rapala clackin minnow or clackin crank. They work AMAZING so try those out if u want some techniques try a twitch pause technique, just switch it up time to time to see what the best bite is on
@mattwooldridge9909 жыл бұрын
I think it's where you are brought up I live in England it's the most common tactic for pike over here it usually producers the bigger fish to
@beastpvp81609 жыл бұрын
Ya like where I fish Noone really ever fishes it so you can use repeated baits every year. I personally prefer a 7 ft casting rod and a Good bait caster and use a Rapala xrap in silver blue colourway. But I change it up sometimes and use a 7 ft 6 bait cast combo and use a crayfish in natural colour and just crank slowly
