I've heard over and over again that kids are resilient. After watching this video, that statement couldn't be any further from the truth. This young man is hurting to the core because of lack of parental love, care and guidance. We need to do so much better for the future of our children. It's heartbreaking to see someone hurting this much. Wish I could give give him a huge hug and tell him he's worth it, he's loved, he's cared for. Praying he gets clean and has a beautiful life full of love and happiness

We got to help future kids and kids in our community as much as possible. Don't ignore things. And help the current kids and adult and elderly. The key is to help others as much as possible all the time.

The problem as I see it, is lack of community support for assisting those who want to break a cycle in their family. There's too much support for the continuation of these abusive cycles, and none for the ones who want to end it. It's sort of like how there's a ton of resources poured into the "rehabilitation of pedophiles" and providing housing for them, therapy, institutions, food, toiletries, the list goes on and on and on for pedophiles.... but their victims? what sort of resources and support are there for the victims of pedophiles? The families are often left alone to deal with it; they're handed, at best, a barely qualified therapist. The pedophiles get top minds working on them; the victims get shabby treatment. SO society as a whole, has to change its priorities here, if we ever have a chance in hell of saving these future children from going through this sort of cycle, over and over and over and over and over and over and over I come from a family line of alcoholics; long long line of abusive, angry, alcoholics. I'm the only child that doesn't drink; I'm the only "non alcoholic". I have a family, we have a child, we are alone aside from his side of family because I have to break away in order to end a cycle; that leaves us with very little community, or resources. It would be easier I think for people who aren't as lucky as I was, who maybe don't have the same blessings we do to keep going, to be successful in ending their cycles. I would gladly advocate for my tax dollars to go towards that, versus sterilizing children and lobbing their breast tissue off, as it currently does where I live.

Your own words show how resilient kids are. Resilient doesn’t mean you don’t hurt. It means how much an individual can endure while continuing to function. This dude seems very resilient at the moment. All that he’s been through, and is currently going through and is able to wake up each morning, tells me he’s very resilient.

From someone who has a master’s degree in counseling, Mark you have wonderful listening skills. This young man had trouble getting his words out and giving him the time to collect his thoughts to respond was critical. When doing this type of work you have to be comfortable with silence because sometimes they just need a little extra time to formulate what they say, especially people who are traumatized and hurting.

Honey. I don’t know if you will ever read this, and I know this is so cliche. But you deserve so much better. I went to my last rehab almost four years ago, and my self hatred in early sobriety was insane. But it takes time to discover a new you. Sexuality doesn’t really apply when you’re using, a lot of us had to do what we needed to to get our medicine. Stay strong. And I promise you, sobriety is uncomfortable, but it’s the best thing I could ever do. The fear of too scared to die and too scared to live is a real thing. I hope you choose life!

The pain in his voice is the same pain I hear every day in the people I treat for substance misuse disorder. It's obviously not the exact same, his pain is unique and extremely deep inside. I hope this video can help others to learn that addiction is a disease, not a moral failing. Kindness and empathy is the only way we can tackle this epidemic. Shame and guilt is needlessly killing people.

Dylan, I could feel your pain through your interview. I am a recovering addict and I understood when you said that you don't like yourself sober. A lot of the times we have mental health issues and emotional damage that we have to work on repairing once we get sober. It is really hard work. I struggle so much with it too. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I also am hoping that you will be able to get into a rehab that will help you get free of the substances and maybe get some government housing. For me I was in a homeless shelter to start with, and then I applied for government housing and then got transferred to government housing. It has really helped me a lot. I know you can do it. And I also said a prayer for you

Hope he finds grace and connection, that's what saved me from addiction was the people and reaching out. Being on this interview is a huge step for him though tbh. It's not a dead end. I mean on one hand, you're saying you hope he links up and get some help and gets out of here but on the other hand, you're saying being on the street is a dead end. Also, the worst thing that ever happened to you, is the worst thing that ever happened to you. For somebody, the very worst thing might be losing a parent for somebody else, the very worst thing might be living on the street with a deadly drug addiction . You can't look at yourself and say oh I have it better because somebody else has it worse. That's terrible advice. We all suffer but it's only relative to the life we lead

I've never left a comment on a KZbin video before but I felt compelled after listening to Dylan's story. I ache with sadness after hearing how he was abandoned and failed again and again during his childhood, he was a little boy, he needed to be cared for and guided. As a father of a 4 year old I can't fathom how parents could fail so badly. Life's hard and every parent has their own struggles but to allow your child to grow up like Dylan did is evil personified in my opinion. Dylan you may never read this but I'm sorry that you were dealt an awful hand as a child but that doesn't have to be your story, please know that your past is your past and you can write a new future, I hope and pray that this video will open a few doors for you which will lead you to a better path and give you a future you deserve, wishing you all the best Dylan.

My heart goes out to you Dylan. I know the pain about molestation cause I was violated too. I see yearning for some peace in your life. My condolences to your baby. One major thing you have is your wife to get sober. You both could help each other immensely. Please you and wife don’t give up on yourselves. Keep vigilant and go full throttle to beat this. God Bless You Both. Luv ya man. ❤❤❤

There is always hope. Drugs don't discriminate. I've scored drugs, right along side a doctor and lawyer. 🤔 I went to rehab many years ago now. I spent my 30th birthday in there. Stayed about a year. It's never a great idea to hook up with someone in rehab, while you are trying to get clean for a better life. Those relationships never last long. When one busts, they usually take hostages. Concentrate on you first. For at least 1-2 years of getting drug free. I'm soo sorry Dylan. That you didn't have loving parents to love and nurture you. As a parent I want to tell you, that you are 100% worth it. There are people everywhere that do care.🌻💛

It only took a few minutes for the tears to fall from my eyes. This kid is hurting so badly 😢 My heart goes out to him. It's a year after his interview, and I pray he's still alive. 🙏💙🙏 Gosh I just want to reach in and hug 🫂 him. Hes got to release those emotions. I will never understand why people become parents. Just why?

Dylan is very intelligent and very aware of his trauma he's experienced and of his actions. He has so much potential, but he is so damaged. 💔 I am myself also very damaged but not as severe as his case or in the same way, but my own damage and Trauma has affected my relationships and the way I can even maneuver in life. I can only imagine what he's been through. He deserves so much more! 💔

When I hear people say they don't know why they're still here I want to tell them it's because they have a life purpose that is not yet fulfilled. Your soul knows more than you ever could and it is your soul that brought you back to this life on earth to fulfill your purpose.

He’s so, so sad. This is heartbreaking. People need to be shown this video when they say ‘oh drug addicts are just lazy people just want to get high and who should get a job’. This man doesn’t WANT to get high, he hates his life and himself and his situation. He can’t see a way out. His self worth is so depleted from never being shown help and compassion and that he mattered from childhood.
