In 2011 World Horse Welfare carried out its largest ever preventative welfare operation in Scotland, to round up, castrate and microchip more than 90 horses that were breeding uncontrollably on a large area of land that could not support them. Their elderly owner was unable to cope, and our operation stopped the escalating welfare problems and enabled the ponies to be sold into new homes. Olympic medal winning eventer and World Horse Welfare Supporter Ian Stark took on some of the ponies after hearing about the operation, and this video follows their story.

My mare is one of the Dallas Ponies. She was taken off the land around 6months old. She is my soulmate very brave and reliable. 💗💗

Ian Stark was a fantastic 3 day event rider with many medals to his name. Lovely to see the work he is doing now, & how disadvantaged children have benefited from contact with the ponies. I'd love to be wealthy enough to donate to the charity.

I am really glad that world horse welfare is preventing the bad welfare situations from happening in the first place, not just helping the abused ones. well done

They stated that the ponies were not in a bad welfare situation - but had they let them double their population, then they might have been suffering. I agree, they had a great start in life, running around 2000 acres!

That's great that someone that gets over their head in their stewardship can ask for help...Wish we could do that here in the US

4:00 It's hard to believe that they were once Feral ponies! They now look like a great pair riding ponies that anyone would love to own.

I think the concern was more for inbreeding and overpopulation than the fact that they were running wild.

Feral ponies need such extensive rehabilitation to bring them into riding or driving work, it's only possible to take 3 or 4 at time. You're going to be starting even with the routine of putting a headcollar on, a lesson first taught when a foal is 2-3 days old.

All the different colors of these ponies; they are so beautfiful and precious. Can I have one of the smaller ponies, not to ride but to pet. (just kidding) But that's what I'd do if I ever had a pony.
