Hey everyone. Just a slight correction. What is labelled "rhizoid" in this video is actually a "rhizome" that is a horizontal stem that is found in some ferns but not all. The small structures that are seen growing off of the rhizome are true "roots" because, as the video states, ferns are vascular plants and these structures function as true roots. "Rhizoid" is a term that applies usually to the "rootlike" structures found holding mosses (Bryophytes) in place in the ground, but that do not absorb water and minerals like true roots. (So, rhizoids in mosses, roots in ferns). Didn't want you to miss this if a test is coming up. Best wishes.
