When do you transition into Fall clothing? When the weather gets cold, or when the Pumpkin Spiced Lattes come out?

I plan ahead of time so I can be well prepared especially because my life is more busy in the fall and winter. So I started the process at the end of August.

I was planning to switch at the start of this month, but the weather decided it wanted an Indian summer week. I'm still working on my capsule, because it's also very gray and I want to add some color to it.

I live in FL so I wait until the weather turns which isn’t until October or November! Love your style my dear.

I think my anchor pieces for fall are black combat boots, a leather biker jacket, a wool dark sea green kilt and a beige wool sweater. And for a special item/statement piece this year I went with an almost floor-length black faux leather coat - paired with combat boots it was an excellent piece to boost self-confidence while walking at night through the city! Didn't have the confidence to wear it for the last few years but I hope it would be used more often now, because of this great feeling while wearing it!

Fernanda, I love the idea of building a capsule wardrobe around your “hero” pieces. Almost always it’s suggested to build capsule wardrobes from mainly “classics” or “basics” which can become a bit boring at times. But starting with pieces you love and want to wear means you can still have a cohesive and flexible wardrobe, that is fun and unique, whilst allowing your favourite pieces to really shine. This video is great timing as I’m about to organise my spring capsule (I’m in Oz 🇦🇺) and I will definitely now be using this system to select the items. Thanks for the free wardrobe planner! 🙏🏼💕

Ah!! I love calling them ‘hero’ pieces, that is so much better than ‘anchor’. I’m glad I could help! If anything else comes up, let me know!
@Deem573 жыл бұрын
My anchor pieces are an olive coloured camouflage patterned dress with floral embroidery, olive green cargo pants, olive green barn jacket, new blush pink shacket, new cotton sweater with wide stripes in coordinating colours, and new leopard print sued mules. These give me lots of layering options with all the autumn pieces I already own.

You have the best channel for a capsule wardrobe because you explain things so clearly. I don't do capsule wardrobes but I only purchase what I love and what will work with at least 3 things I already own. You are very inspiring.

This is a great rule! The number three comes up a lot on this channel, I think you just added another one!

I haven't started working on my fall capsule wardrobe because it's still quite warm here! But I definitely know one of my anchor pieces will be a ochre yellow knitted vest! It's one of my favorite pieces anyway and it's super comfy, the color looks great on me and works with so many different pieces, I just love it!

Start early and give yourself plenty of time! It usually takes me about 1 month to transition.

I love your videos! I’ve been following along for a while. You’re videos are very well done. I really like your style and it’s refreshing to see someone find what they love not just what the next trend is! I downsize my wardrobe hugely and now I have about 60 items for year-round including really hot summers and very cold winters. I would love to see a dress and skirt capsule wardrobe because that’s what I mostly wear. :)

I am so capsule wardrobe challenged. I don't know how you pull it off. I take pictures of my outfits that I put together from online pictures. Yes, I admit. I'm a manikin dresser. I love how you describe why you chose what you put in your capsule. Thx for the hang sweater trick. my girlfriend uses camp dry on white sneakers and coats to prevent staining and easier cleaning. The liquidy white shoe polish is great for those sneakers. Even on the soles. I don't follow trends either. My style is more retro/eclectic. If there isn't such a style, well there is now.😁 Sadly, the link did not work. I'll keep watching. ❤ Cheers!

My "anchor" pieces for autumn/fall are a dark floral blouse I adore, my cognac riding boots, pointy toe waterproof ankle boots, a burgundy 3/4 sleeve dress, and my beloved straight leg black wool pants.

A note about your shoes and you thinking you tear shoes up quickly: You mentioned you live in New York and walk a lot, so you probably also are walking a lot on concrete/hard surfaces which is rough on your feet and must be rough on your shoes in turn. Second, since you capsule wardrobe you really get the wear out of all your shoes and you wear the same shoes a lot through a season. I noticed when I paired down my shoes and would wear a single favorite pair through a whole season that shoes other people considered to be "good brands" actually fell apart of started looking sad over just a single season of heavy wear. I sincerely believe that a lot of brands of shoes aren't made with the quality they used to be, and maybe because most of us own so many pairs of shoes we don't really notice. So I don't think it's abnormal that you feel like your shoes are wearing out quickly. HOWEVER if your feet, knees, hips or back are hurting or your shoes are wearing in a way that is uneven, by all means it could be great to see a professional about it if you can. 😊 Couldn't hurt anything!
