Football fans have a romantic affection for this player like perhaps no other. Atletico fans worship him, Liverpool fans adored him, and Chelsea fans supported him through his toughest moments. I think it’s because his career, with all its high and lows, was much more relatable than the robotic success the likes of Messi and Ronaldo have achieved. On his day, he was one of the best players of his generation. But he was just as humanly fallible, be it due to physical injury or mental confidence. Most importantly however, his passion for the game and the teams he played for always showed through his performances. You could see that he cared because his performances, good or bad, affected him so much. And he was a big match player, capable of producing magical moments and scoring decisive goals on the biggest of stages. Football will remember El Nino.

He didn't always score and most casuals will just look at his stats. I felt exactly the same and you know why we both plus many others felt like this. Its because torres at Liverpool was unbelievable and up there with the best in the world and when he came to Chelsea and things didn't start to fire for a while, we all prayed for him to get that first goal and when he did I think the majority of the footballing world went crazy for him and then everyone new what was gonna come, goals from all sorts of areas on the pitch with both feet and wow torres was superb at scoring with his head and from then on I just hoped so much that torres would score every time I watched Chelsea. This guy scored some very important goals, plus he always gave 100% on the pitch. When he scored I was so happy to see one of the all time greats doing what he does best, and my favorite was against Barcelona because of the importance of the goal and when it hit the net he ran over to the barca fans and they was going absolutely crazy. I laughed my head off. What a player.

Because you didn't have to pay for it. He was a striker. His meaning was to score goals for his team. Chelsea bought him with +£50 million which was the biggest signing ever when it happened...... and he failed to score 10 goals a season for the club. He scored few important goals for the club but when you think about the transfer fee and his salary every week, he was a big flop at Chelsea.

Anyone looks good on a highlight real, in reality between these clips was a lot of poor games where he couldn’t hit the target

Then was Torres, now is Werner. I know Timo will give us great moments and trophies, like Fernando did. It is remarkable how loyal Chelsea fans are. Greetings from Chile.

He was definitely past his prime when he played for us (in part due to injuries) but he will always be my favorite football player of all time.

Our current strikers are nowhere near this legend, who some calls "flop" , thank you el nino. It was a goosebumps moment when you signed for blues. I will never forget the transfer saga. You are always special

I hated him... with all my heart I hated him!! (as a player). He either scored or played exceptionally especially against chelsea. But one day out of the blue he joined the blues 💙...I never ever in my wildest dreams thought that he will be a Chelsea player. I will never forget that goal against West ham, I celebrated more than him !! 😂..just childhood things!! Thank you for all those memories F9 💙. Once a 💙 always a 💙.

Why do people still consider him as a flop Chelsea Player??? I don't get it this guy has given everything for us💙

Just some looserfools fans getting salty bcoz he won 2 European trophies with us and played a vital role in winning those.

People who call him flop actually watched Chelsea back then, when I read this comment section it feels like im in the twillight zone. Most of the commenters in this video are CHILDREN who did not even watch Chelsea when Torres was in the team.

@@sugenrai8064 You gave us £50m for a player that couldn’t even get regular game time at you because he was that bad. That’s a flop

Loved him at Chelsea, this video just shows his pure skill in certain situations and the strength of them headed goal , Werner hasn't showed quality of this level anywhere near yet. Hope he does though

Werner is still the better player even with misses because Torres was also missing a lot. But Werner provide more runs and more chance creation. However both don't play to their expected level and should be sold. Keeping Torres for many seasons was a very bad decision by the club.

@@footballfan5048 yehh I agree both are miles off there best. I like boths effort and determination and professionalism though. For me Torres was the last real exciting out of nowhere signing for Chelsea even though it didn't work out 100% nowadays seems like we just get what other people don't really want. We have had good players turn into stars though hazard etc.

His goal against Benfica in the Europa League Finals was criminally underrated. He hold his ground against the defender, took the ball past him and outmuscled Luisao who's much bigger than him and the composure to finish it around the goalkeeper. He literally scored that out of nowhere.
