WHAT A LINE-UP!
We’ve finally got our hands on the McLaren 750 S, and it’s facing off against a bunch of incredible supercars - the Ferrari 296 GTB, Lamborghini Huracan Performante, and Porsche 911 Turbo S!
So let’s see how these magnificent machines compare. Starting with the McLaren, it’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8. This delivers 750hp and 800Nm to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at just 1,389kg.
Alongside it, we have the Ferrari. It’s packing a 3-litre twin-turbo V6 along with an electric motor, and these combine to put down 830hp and 740Nm of torque. This is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,470kg.
Next up it’s the Lambo, which houses a huge 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that produces 640hp and 600Nm. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and it’s the lightest car here, weighing in at 1,382kg.
Then finally we have the Porsche. It’s powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six that puts down 650hp and 800Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and it’s the heaviest car here, coming in at 1,640kg.
So will the ever-reliable Porsche snatch another win? Or could another contender grab it? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

The turbo in the Ferrari is not the 2.9-liter V6 that Ferrari developed for the Quadrifoglio models from Alfa Romeo, among others. It has a different bank angle (120 instead of 90 degrees) and a larger bore (88 instead of 86.5 millimetres), which increases the displacement from 2,891 to 2,992 cubic centimetres.

That’s true, Ferrari made a very capable und beautiful beast of a car. The Porsche is slower, but in honorable mentions that the Porsche turbo is still more an gran touring car than track or racing car. But the Ferrari is in very aspect faster. Anyway in the normal world in both cars you would be anyways way overpowered in very normal world condition😄 and it not really matter and you are in any of both 99% the fastest on the street. If we stop the italien dry weight bullshiterry and add all the stuff you need to actually drive the car like fluids and a driver both the Lambo and the Farrari weigh about the same as the Porsche. The Mclaren lacks the AWD system and "luxury interior" of the 911.

Traction and efficiency are also important, as there would be no way that the Performante would lose to the Porsche given the same power and less weight. The Porsche has something closer to 700hp and the Porsche has the best gearbox here with the most gears and better gear ratios for acceleration. It has a great torque and power curve, but the 296 has less drivetrain losses, has much more power, probably somewhere closer to 900hp, as it even walks the Mclaren 765lt despite weighing like 250+kg more. Ferrari have done a great job at calibrating the traction of that car, along with the cup 2R tires to get great traction despite being only RWD.

The Huracan definitely kept up pretty well. It's instant response from it being naturally aspirated and it's great launching ability thanks to its AWD system, definitely gave it an edge at times but due to lack of power and torque it just falls short from the other three cars. I'm interested to see what Lamborghini is going come out with to compete with the newer supercars from their rivals.

Huracan clutch bangs so hard in first gear it explodes off the line initially, like someone threw it, but then spends a lot of time getting itself stable before pulling again. Porsche PDK revs the engine insanely high (over 6k) and can take hundreds of launches all day, so it is a rocket ship off the line. The PDK is insane

What surprises me the most is the absolute mechanical masterpiece that Porsche has engineered. To get the initial jump on the launches, every time it does, is remarkable. To add the cherry on top, it isn't getting hammered in the rolling races and almost breezes past that Lambo. And then nailing the brake tests every time too; just insane. From seeing other test drivers, driving the Porsche and saying that people need to give other cars a chance before driving one of those, I'm seriously unsurprised!😮

The awd system and 800Nm of torque is the reason why the Porsche gets the initial jump on the launches. In the rolling races, it literally got hammered by the two rwd cars. And then in the brake tests, it doesn't win all the time, at least considering all brake tests on this channel.

Great race! It's incredible de diference of the 750S and 296GTB on the Turbo S and Huracan P on the rolling race, they look like fighter jets taking off... wow!

The sport mode roll race should be modified so that each car is in its own optimal powerband because the number of gears differs. It'll show the true potential of each car

The engine in the Lambo will earn a place in automotive history as one of the all-time greats. Most definitely, awesome bit of kit. BTW I can remember Performantes doing 10.4 secs for the 1/4 mile here on carwow...

As ever the timings on the day are down to road condition and weather. All cars underperformed on the day by about the same margin. The Turbo S for instance has done 10.1's.
