👑Ferris FW15👑 Oil Changed From 10W-30 To 20W-50

Love your channel Tony. Put deposit on the FW15 today. Also finally found the part number and got the front weight ordered. Will order the tractor tires from Amazon tomorrow. Oh, had the dealer order the oil drain hose too. Now my question is on oil. I'm just a homeowner/will mow once every 2 weeks on average....and it gets hot here/today 91F. So which weight of oil do you recommend for me? See I would have thought that the hotter it is outside the thinner oil would be preferred.

NOOOOOOOO THE HOTTER OUTSIDE AIR THE THICKER OIL YOU USE IN THE WINTER COLD AIR THAT IS WHEN YOU PUT A THIN OIL SUMMER PUT THICKER

Luckily no mowing here in winter=snow and ice :) So after the break-in period....20 hours isn't it? and me assuming when I pick it up from the dealer (he said 10 days but with this holiday weekend probably 2 weeks) it will have oil in it. But after the break-in I'll put in the 20w-50. I know its basic questions Tony but I've not mowed a yard since I was 17 until this past April and bought the wrong mower/sold it this week to get the FW. Gotta start somewhere :)

@@medicineman4040 To me it is perfect for men that are up in years as i am i am 55 yrs old and this FW15 moves with ease Ones you get used to it remember my words let the machine do the turning/moving for you don't try to man handle it like a regular push mower .let the mower move for you reverse forward ect. and you will love the swivel wheels this machine is over 300 Lbs and it will feel like it is only 100 lb when you get used to it Here is a link to the first time i used it in the field also listen to my information about my first time using My FW15 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZqYqJiPm9RrfLM

20w50 is what I put in my Harleys. they don't rev high. but they are air cooled. so I believe the thicker oil is for heat.

100% Absolutely True This is why a Commercial mower can handle up to 20W-50 Because of the climate around the mower and running the mower more then 8hrs a day 6 days a week we are seeing much more heat in the summer over 100 Degrees over the past summers the norm was 95/97 Degrees and using the standard 10w-30 was excepted as the normal .but now with the clement change with much more intense heat we are now living in we must adapt are commercial mowers (NOT A RESIDENTIAL MOWER )and put in a much more heat tolerance oil so thick oil is Great for keeping the machine running cooler and to prevent viscosity breakdown and shortening the life of a mowers engine. MULCHING REQUIRES EXCELLENT MOWING CONDITIONS Mulching mowers cannot function properly if the grass is wet, or if the grass is simply to high to cut. Even more than normal mowing, mulching requires that the grass be dry and the the appropriate amount is cut. This provides short clippings which decompose properly (much more quickly than longer clippings). The ideal cutting height will vary with climate, time of year, and quality of your lawn. We recommend that you experiment with both the cutting height and ground speed until you achieve the best cut. Start with a high cutting height and using progressively lower settings until you find a cutting height that is matched to your mowing conditions and preferences.
