This video covers ferritic malleable castings for general engineering usage at temperatures from normal ambient to approximately 400 degree Celsius. Material Grade.
Castings ordered and produced under this specification are classified under the following grades based on tests on separately cast test bars. The Grade used in this specification is Grade 32510 which is the grade numbering for English Grade, the same grade is numbered as Grade 22010 in Metric grade. The Nomenclature of this grade is as follows, Grade 32510, First 3 digits defines the Yield strength that is 32500 P S I, the remaining two digits define the Minimum elongation requirement.
Microstructure Requirements, malleable iron shall consist of temper carbon nodules distributed through a ferritic matrix and shall be free of excessive pearlite, massive carbides, and primary graphite. This microstructure is measured by polishing & etching this Material in Nital & viewed at 100 x magnification.
All castings, on visual examination, shall be sound and free of obvious shrinkage and porosity.
