Named as "The New El Mexicano Route" this railroad line manages to cross the geographical difficulties between the states of Puebla and Veracruz, on Mexico's east coast. Opened in the 80's this line replaced the original El Mexicano route over the mountains of Maltrata, opened in 1876, now thanks to modern engineering this new route manages to cross the mountains on a steady 2% incline with the use of many horse-shoe curves, long tunnels and this iconic viaduct.
