Ferrous Sulfate
Generic Name: ferrous sulfate
Trade Name: Feosol
Indication: prevention and treatment of iron-deficiency anemia
Action: Iron is essential for hemoglobin, myoglobin and enzymes, it is transported to organs where it becomes part of iron stores
Therapeutic Class: antianemics
Pharmacologic Class: iron supplements
Nursing Considerations:
 may cause seizures, hypotension, constipation, epigastric pain, diarrhea, skin staining, anaphylaxis
 assess nutritional status, bowel function
 monitor hemoglobin, hematocrit, iron levels
 may cause elevated liver enzymes
 take on an empty stomach to increase absorption/vitamin c helps with absorption
 use z-track for IM injection

This medication I believe I’ll be taking for a lifetime. I have low blood iron deficiency, I also had to stop eating red meats along with citrus foods

All of a sudden I’m having tingling and numbness in my feet and thighs.

So I just took a supplement a few minutes ago [my doctor was worried that my iron is low so he advised me to take over the counter ferrous sulfate] and it was like 10-15 minutes ago and just now I just kept puking. Is there a reason to that? Like is that the supplement doing that to me or is it something else? I haven't eaten anything today.

you need to take it when your stomach is empty, for atleast 1hr to 2 hrs after a meal and since it is an iron supplement you should not drink milk at the same time because the iron will not be absorbed easily and do not take antacid with iron.

Change your diet! Eat more leafy greens, add spirulina, moringa, chlorophyll put in a shake everyday. Stay away from package foods, no cold cuts or hot dogs any meat with nitrate, eat more fruits n vegetables, no refined sugars or artificial one, stick to unpasteurised raw honey, maple sirup, monk fruit or Lankanto sugars n see what happens! Don't forget the strongest animals on earth like elephants, gorillas, rhinoceros, even cows ect... are herbivores! Even strongest man on earth is plant base! Eat meats that have no hormones or antibiotics grass fed or chickens organicly fed, wild fish. Yes more expensive but eat less to have the good stuff no need to have meats everyday! You will eventually not need iron supplements n feel more energetic! Have a look at FOOD MATTERS N HUNGRY FOR CHANGE movies! That will open your eyes n want to be healthy!

@@euna2723 no hun, i’m skinny and have severe anemia. I take three 65 mg pills a day and I don’t see a change in my weight.
