Growing up in the 2000s as a child, I was listening to trance, mainly Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Above and Beyond, and other trance artists, but my most favorite ones were Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, and Above and Beyond.

I think everyone reading this comment can remember the first time they ever heard Gouryella - 'Gouryella'. A magical listening experience that really stood out more than anything else being produced at that time. I hope Ferry keeps the Gouryella brand going for the future. Words can't describe what the Goureyella sound has meant to me. It is so much deeper then language. I discoverd the sound so many years after it was created, but it has a lasting resonence that brings me back to the place where I was first touched by the sound. To think there were only 3 original tracks and what an impact they had on propelling the entire trance movement that followed 1999. I vividly remember time stopping when I first heard the long anticipated Anahara and dancing, laughing looking up into the heavens. Ferry Corsten is the God of Trance (period)!

It's mysterious to me that the pinnacles of trance music (very much including Gouryella) not only aren't regarded as some of the greatest modern musical and artistic achievements, but aren't even KNOWN ABOUT by non-trance fans. There was a brief window from about 1998-2002 when trance went mainstream and regularly featured in the music charts, tv and radio, but that passed, and non-aficionados don't even know the genre exists nowadays, or have a dim and distorted view of it. What is this force field surrounding trance that stops it getting the recognition it deserves!?! In a way I don't mind - it's "our thing", not a secret, but the preserve of people who know and care. But still. When you actually play this stuff to people they are usually blown away. I don't think I'll ever really understand why trance didn't become the most popular music genre in the world.

I followed your work, Ferry Corsten, up until today (2024), there's been a LOT of excellent tracks - Out of the Blue is intensely etched into my soul. But I have to be honest, those OG Gouryella tracks I feel like they defined my life ever since I heard them. Years and years have gone by but I feel those tunes and mixes are just so impactful and unforgettable. Cheers! PS: I was a teen back some 20+ y ago still I managed to scrounge up the money to get some CDs and keep them in my collection - 98'2000? golden era for sure. I'm baffled by the sensitivity on display with all the tracks from so many different artists which eventually became to be legends... :) PPS: Tenshi has been utterly sublime for me some 20+ y so far. Actually i've never been to your show before, even when you stopped by to my country until a gouryella show announced and it was the first gouryella show in Asia. Great watch, puts me in the mood to go to another trance event lol. Ferry is one of the few people who has stayed true to trance over the years and hasn't sold it out at all, and it's amazing to still have him making tunes like this, saw Gouryella in Manchester at FSOE and in Belfast at T13 and both times were amazing, saw ferry loads of times in Glasgow as well and he never disappoints. This was an amazing documentary. I am so happy that Trance is back and that Ferry never gave up on it.
