It was a fun day flying for the blowdown. For those curious I flew a dji fpv over and round the buildings and the drone is quite small so you cannot see it in the other shots. We had an inspire 2 and 2 mavics in the air as well as 12 cameras located around the site to capture all angles. Would love capture more explosive demolitions like this one. 😁👍

When you take down a structure, do you have to reverse engineer the structure in order to get it to collapse? I was at the demolition of the Century Link Building in Overland Park, KS a few years ago. It was amazing to me how you could take a big ten-story building and bring it down into a neat little pile of rubble. You guys have done some very impressive implosions and I love watching them. Thanks for the great videos! I don’t think I have ever seen drone footage before, that was fascinating!👍🏻

I’m very interested: as both chimneys fall, the top 40% or so shears off on both simultaneously. It doesn’t appear to be a result of any explosives but instead structural failure due to wind resistance.

The payoff is in seconds, but they're often on site for months preparing for the demo, and that's once all of the columns are exposed (often other contractors do that before they arrive). They have to plan the demo, cut and weaken many existing columns and slabs, install shaped charges with very specific timing - it's actually much more like a fireworks display (with all of the timed shots) than anything else - it just goes off without much delay. :P

Question here, with all the charges used in so many different locations on a large demolition such as this, how are you sure every single charge went off? Is there a safe way to know if something on say one hole didn't fire?
@ke6gwf3 жыл бұрын
After the dust settles, the site will be shut down until their safety team can go through and verify the explosives. There are various tricks that can be used such as pieces of det tube with caps on the end running out of the blast zone, and if the caps are all blown off then you know all the circuits fired, etc. But they will inspect and make sure there are no live explosives on site before turning it over to the builders.
