The fight having black borders on pieces adds so much. I also really like the idea of the Ferrymen becoming a source of skull keys. I know that it's a canon thing, but V1 effectively doing what the Ferrymen have being doing for their whole existence literally means that V1 has become the Ferryman. They decide what happens when people die.

I like how fairly equal they are -- V1 is primarily ranged weapons, save for punching (which it mostly uses for blocking/deflecting), and is exceptional against other ranged or range-similar beings like the robots and Minos' corpse. However, The ferryman is an up-close martial for most of the time and utilizes lightning, which reduces V1's strength of mobility somewhat that being said, he did bring a staff to a gunfight.

Judging by how much this Ferryman was giving V1 THE WORK, safe to assume this was the Ferryman who went on a winning streak before this violent walking camera came in.

Something I love about these animations is the lack of emotion V1 has. V2 has his cockiness and fearful state when it realizes it could die. Gabriel has his narcissistic personality and bursts of anger. And the Ferryman is patient at the beginning and when he gets the upper hand tries to intimidate V1. The Earthmover is desperate to survive and initially holds back a bit but lets it all out But V1 shows almost no emotion, only moments of disappointment when a stylish attack fails and becomes enraged when it’s used against him. Other than that, it has an objective to survive as long as possible, no matter what.

ok, there is SO much here that i love. first: the visual effects. they are a bit wonky, but they do fit the theme, and work excelently. i can't do better myself, so... the second: how it establishes the threat of the ferryman is well executed, with a lot of high skill melee combat they are not really a foe that V1 has fought against. the closest was Gabriel, but he was more into the flashyness at that point, and did A LOT of ranged attacks. (at least, in ichellor's video) and V1 even managed to get one of his own swords. but the ferryman? he never let V1 get such an advantage. his parries, his deflects. hell, he even managed to avoid the damage of the nailgun by twirling his oar realy fast! AND THEN THERE IS PHASE 2. OH MY GOD PHASE 2. initiated when, in a critical bought of desperation, V1 uses a coin to deflect the lightning bolt. the enraged and bloodied ferryman then takes his ore handle as a rapier, and the rest as a greathammer. the brutality shown easily as he starts just stabbing and stabbing into V1 while it struggles to equip the knuckleblaster to give itself some breathing room. you can TELL that they KNOW only one is going to survive, and V1 is using every trick they can to get any advantage against the raw strength, speed, and brutality of the ferryman. and finishing with V1 claiming title of ferryman, along with the skull of his opponent. to help him though his ever-greater hunger for blood.
