I know you're a bit miffed at the whole lagoon building saga but surely there's a positive there now with the extra liquid fertiliser you can store or buy in digestate to spread. Keep the grass growing and cows milking

I farm chickens over in NZ and my gas cost increases have been incredible. It's impossible to budget. Raw material prices for wheat sorghum maize are going up. The supermarket chains will need to accept increased primary producer costs for farmers to survive. The consumers wherever they are in the world will have to accept increased costs at the tills.

Consider using some type of additive in your lagoon.it helps to make it easier to agitate and less smelly.also a bit more growth on grassland.

The dairy man needs to spread fertiliser and the same application rate as any of year so be able to get forage quality because it’ll be more expensive in the long term to be buying high protein/bespoke concentrates this next winter!
@johnmurray54672 жыл бұрын
Same story with all sectors. In tillage you reap what you sow. Beef, there's no comparison between animal growth rates on silage versus grass. So not having grass will increase your costs and hit output!
@samuelrobinson90122 жыл бұрын
Will be interesting for you to see what difference there is in the field you sowed and run out of fertiliser in. Happened me years ago, and hardly noticed the difference.

We are in same position Richard got 20 ton of fert sitting in shed here's hoping we adapt and make it to last us the whole season then see what happens next year . Ours was bought cheap now 640 a ton . Going to be a tough old year for any farmer or industry I would say with rising costs and inputs and if outputs just staying and same
@thepansthisthatandtheother77662 жыл бұрын
Funny enough hubby & I were discussing this a couple of hours before we saw your latest video. Yup for consumers prices will soar. We are not Farmers but the price of fertilizer and Grass seed (we are using Equine/Livestock seed) has nearly trebled since last September here in Virginia USA.

I'm something different this year - Normally put my box muck out after silage and then graze. All my muck is now out, cattle going out to graze in a couple weeks and then will take them off early and take a later cut... May be a bad idea but thought it was worth a try to make best use of my natural fertiliser!

You are in the lucky position to have a big slurry lagoon . Time to utilise it to the max . When cattle finish grazing a field or when silage is harvested ,cover the field in slurry . Save all you can on that white gold

Some hard times ahead for sure, the issues has just started with fuel and fertilizer prices, bulding materials gone sky rocket etc. All farmers can see the big impact all this are gonna have in the near future but sadly not the leaders or most of the populations... Wonder where the world is gonna be in next 6-12 months... oh hey ho, all we can do is Crack on! Nice to see the 265 in the background, rare sight with the loader on :D

I wonder, would the boys be willing, if incentivised, to go round cutting off the spear thistle just under the crown as that is effective in killing them. The weed killer tends to knock the grass back and probably more expensive than enhanced pocket money.
