Festac Town is a federal housing estate located along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Lagos State, Nigeria. Its name is derived from the acronym FESTAC, which stands for Second World African Festival of Arts and Culture that was held there in 1977.[1] It is also important to know that festac is under Amuwo-Odofin local government area in Lagos.
Festac town, originally referred to as "Festival Town" or "Festac Village", is a residential estate designed to house the participants of the Second World Festival of Black Arts and Culture of 1977 (Festac77). Consisting of 5,000 contemporary dwelling units and seven major avenues, the town was designed in an efficient grid in order to accommodate upwards of 45,000 visitors as well as any Nigerian employees and officers working at the Festival.

I was born here and grew up here . Moved out of the country in 2003. Seeing this video just confirms to me that my childhood memories have been erased. I can not even recognise anything ,It is deeply sad and disheartening. The chain reaction of corruption......it just never has limits!

U know, I'm almost 50yrs old,i couldn't remember how festac was like in my baby age days. But during my parents'early days,my parents told us dat festac was like living in London and dat i can support d fact when i got older in my teen. festac was almost like living in London, but now is a super super biggest slum. I remember those days where u can sit on those long benches as lovers do, i remember those small gardens right in front of each block and flats and play ground,, i remember when d roads where smooth but now is filled with bumps and potholes and street lights were working.Festac has really really lost its former glory but i do believe dat it can and it will get back it's former glory, only time will tell.

Seeing Festic town in its current state of shame and neglect is very upsetting. A property that was obviously intended and constructed as a residual estate has been converted to a commensal estate. This is, to put it mildly, underwhelming in my opinion. Fastic Town used to be a popular destination for families to hang out on weekends because of its lovely parks, bike parts, and service lanes. These estates are extremely well planned and well ahead of time. In my opinion, the residents of Fastic Town and the state government of Lagos must work together to regain control of their property in order to restore it to its former splendor. For those who are unaware, Fastic Town is one of the finest estates on the entire globe.

Please talk about new year canivals in each avenue or roads. I miss 22 road canival... Many people living in festac now didn't have idea how our festac used to be for years back, now roads are nothing to write about. It's a big shame on our local gov chairman and the whole Lagos state governor👎👎👎

This video definitely doesn't show what Festac Town looks like in 2022. While not denigrating your urge for professional fulfilment, I will wish you show, even in your narrative, the true state of the Town, the bad roads, the dilapidated walkways, and collapsing infrastructure. There are virtually no roads in Festac even way back in 2022 that vehicles and okada can glide pleasurably through as depicted in your video.
