This got to be the most underrated show in television history, it's just a mind blowing mystery how criminally unrecognizable it is compare to for instance got which both of them are equally good in every single aspect. And to be honest with all my love for hbo milestone I kind of prefer black sails too, it's such a gem:) You do yourself a favour and go fucling watch it right now, mate.

Black Sails, what a show. Astounding level of production, dialogues, acting, character development, intrigue, politics, action... One of the best series of all time, seriously, without a doubt.

Luke Arnold Equals Pirate Jesus. and Toby Stephens Equals Pirate King. I love that Toby is a trekky. I did get slight star trek vibes in that Gates reminded me of Scotty from The Original Series. But instead of Scotty saving the warp drive Gates would be holding back a mutiny. Very piratey.

Not at all. Its based around 75% truth. Truth means stories must be told and ended as is. If they stretched it out they would have ruined a masterpiece.

For once, they did not. They could have done a follow up series adapting Treasure Island, but this story was perfect where it was. ''They paint the world full of shadows, and then tell their children to stay close to the light. For in the dark, there be dragons.'' The climax to this show was part of what made it so good. It would have been ruined had it been dragged out.

Sterner Regnix Nah. I would have loved to see it to away from Treasure Island and explore an alternate reality where the pirates where the ones to acrually begin the American Revolution vs England instead dog the colonies. It could have been a war of pirates, slaves, natives, and the colonies against England. Then they could have explored Flint and Silvers growing friendship more and all the characters continued struggles.
