Festival au Desert 2008, Mali

it's a sub dialect from Amazighi language called "Tamasheq".

There is no common genuine language for the whole country. There is a multitude of languages and dialects. The only common language is French.

Very entertaining. An interesting look into a culture celebrating in unison. It's really heartbreaking to think of the unfortunate violence , chaos and suffering endured by the people you see here and many of their families and friends who would soon be under attack and fleeing for there lives.

Thank you, i never believed it would come to the sad situation we are in now. One of the great things about the festival was how it served the Touareg who came from all round to sell, play music and meet their friends and family they probably made up 1/2 of the festival goers, it must be especially sorely missed by them.

A wonderful festival that brought diverse peoples together through music, promoting tolerance between cultures that became a victim of growing intolerance in the world. It benefited the Berber most of all and they must be most affected since its demise. We can only hope it will return.

It was a dream! Sad to say due to threat of terrorism the festival has been stopped until further notice. Although I believe there is a touring version.
