It is a good unit....I use it for micro and small smart repairs, Also for heating up aerosols up in the when too cold via the exhaust port.

ovee the next few years I will be changing my truck over to festool with most of the gear. that vac is a great tool for coming through at the end of each day when I do my fixouts. i keep a tidy work area so I wouldn't be taxing the vac.

thanks for the review just bought one today. I have two complaints price off course and that the garage sys is too small.
@DavidStanton7 жыл бұрын
Hi carpenter33. I have heard people say the hose garage is too small before. I don't think the design has been changed since I got mine but I can get the hose and power lead that are supplied with the CTL SYS into the garage quite easily. I take a little time and coil the hose in first and then wind the cord up and place around the handle. All fits below the top of the garage. Something to consider is if the garage was larger then the bulk of the machine would not be as convenient.

Another very interesting video Dave... and I'm also struck by the contrast between the "high technology" of the Festool products in your workshop and the high quality of the tools in your grand dads tool box. Both are enviable! Happy New Year to you!

I like this vac, I didn't notice it until right after I bought a midi for the truck this one is even more portable
@DavidStanton8 жыл бұрын
+William Strahan . It is a great little machine but not a competitor for the mini and midi. 3.5 litres is a small collection so I advise a longlife bag. The positive side is it is ultra small, very quiet and very convenient.

Hi Dave I'm a big fan of your Festool videos as I'm just starting too purchase the kit got my Festool Hoover today can't wait to give it ago was wondering could you use the ts55 to chase wall out for cable ect ?
@DavidStanton8 жыл бұрын
Not the best tool for it. The TS55 can use a diamond blade but it is for compressed cement sheet products. Festool sell a grinder designed for masonry chasing that runs on the same tracks. www.festool.com.au/epages/tooltechnic.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/tooltechnic/Categories/diamond-cutters

I have many Festool machines but the CTL is a disappointment. The safety valve activated way too much, loosing a lot of vacuum power even with an 1/4 'full' dust bag. I also have the largest vacuum cleaner of Festool which is amazing and doesn't have/need sucha safety valve (but too heavy for me to carry upstairs.)

Dave, can you tell me if this new dust extractor works for your Kapex? I'm looking to purchase one of these to hook up to my Kapex in my small shop. This could be a good send if it works with the Kapex.

Yes it will but I think it will fill up with sawdust very quickly as it is only 3.5 litres.

i'm a tool novice who just bought a house with lead paint. i want something i just go around the house and vacuum friction points once a week. would you rec this, or maybe a dustless technologies backpack model? the lead dust stays totally contained? (why is there dust where you take out the bag?)

Hi Jenny Kessler! This machine is not suitable for hazardous materials.

Dave, almost a year on, how has this gone in your shop? I'm tossing up this and a midi, mostly for sanding and domino work, but I'm still wondering if it fills up too quickly in real world usage.
@DavidStanton8 жыл бұрын
I would buy the midi for constant work. This sys vac is a vac that is great for clean up and very small jobs. I typically empty the bag when only 1/3rd full as the bypass valve render the vac useless if the bag is clogged at all.

Found something weird. In the USA this model is HEPA certified. In Europe not.

@@DavidStanton Thanks for your reply. I have another question for you. The mini/midi are noisier, but the motor can be turned down. If you turn them down to the same sound level of the SYS, is suction power the same then as the SYS or less?

@christschool8 жыл бұрын
Too bad you can't buy it in the U.S., for some odd reason.
@DavidStanton8 жыл бұрын
+christschool In time you probably will be able to. My understanding on Festool releases is that Europe gets first release and Australia not long after. This unit has been available in the UK for a while now. I think we are all on 230-240 volt. The US being on 110 volt may need to wait for different voltage motors? Also, there are a lot more people in US than Australia, 20 x's that of Australia's population.
@christschool8 жыл бұрын
***** That's an excellent point. 110v is much harder on motors than 230-240 and with such a small motor, perhaps there isn't one that meets Festool's standards on the market yet that will fit the systainer.
