Thanks Peter for your time and effort in producing these. I first came across the sys mft and likened it to a toy. Had one for 2 years now and it has been an invaluable aid. Nothing worse than try to cut unsupported items - doesn't look professional either. My vehicle is a hatchback car. The whole systainer thing has been an absolute must for me. I love seeing how other people use these items and that's why I appreciate what you do. Kindest regards Mike

same for me - works brilliantly on the festool plunge saw and my makita sander. Not so great on the chop saw, but a whole lot better than nothing.

To quote a woodworker from KZbin... Simply Brilliant!!! I think his name is Peter... 😊 I too dismissed it as nothing I would use. I changed my opinion today. Thank you. A friend uses the Sysvac with an Oneida Dust Deputy attached to a 5 gallon bucket and he says it works great for him. Even with a router if it's not a big cut. He loves it.

The SYS-MFT are great, I use mine when on little jobs, it's great to have a good clamping surface with you, I tend to just use it on the floor rarther than a huge stack. I also work on a farm so again it great to have a little bench with me to fix things in the corner of a field 😬

Have been using those Irwin pull saws for years. Love them. Have four different versions. Great tip on pulling the handle for transport. Wish Irwin sold replacement blades. As you said they are not expensive. I just hate tossing a perfectly good handle when the blade loses its edge.
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop 5 жыл бұрын
They used to sell replacement blades and they should be put under pressure to bring them back as we should not be throwing so much plastic away. Peter

Peter, You missed one of the best features of the Sys MFT my dear chap. A stack of Systainers with Sys MFT on top finishes out to be the exact height of the MFT 3! You can extend your work surface to infinity and beyond. I had some very delicate and odd-shaped museum pieces I was working on and don't know what I would have done without them!!

Hi Stephen, I ran out of space in the video but if you look at the closing sequence (whilst the rock music is playing) you will see me showing just that. Thank you anyway as it does serve to highlight something that I left to the very end. Cheers. Peter

I was nervous at first but am now absolutely convinced that these bits of kit are worth it. The one that shocked me was the Sys MFT as I had written it off in my mind and never even glanced at one in any of the shops. I then realised that I needed something after an uncomfortable (and very public) session on someone's doorstep whilst fitting a new lock. I am now a convert. Peter

Peter, Thank you I really enjoyed the vids. Ref the comments below about you being a Festool salesman I can see both sides. Personally I accept your disclaimer and dont see your channel as being primarily a review comparison site so it sits well with me however most of us cant afford to buy everything Festool (even if we wanted to) so we do need to look at other makes. I agree, Peter, the sys-mft is really useful for on-site work. I use mine as a scrap bin for cutoffs when I install furniture. The handle hole is perfect for dropping small bits and pieces into while working.

I used to be able to borrow Festool kit so that I could make my videos but their policy has now changed. So, I have not seen the new battery Sys Vac. My mains Sys Vac is brilliant and I take it with me whenever I am working outside or doing work away from base. It is also brilliant for vacuuming out the car. Peter

Hi Peter you are always promoting Festool tools which are first class as I own a few myself, it would be nice to know the price we should be paying for this items which you never say many thanks Jim
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, I learnt my lesson a while ago about prices. My KZbin channel gets about 145,000 hits each month from all over the world. People can easily do a quick Google search in their area for the local prices. I did break my rule with the CTL-Sys replacement bags as that is an area that I thought was going to be silly prices but they were quite reasonable. Cheers. Peter

Peter I just cannot get my hose and lead in there nice and flat any tips.
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kenny, It is not easy. The trick that I find works is to get the hose in first. Push it in against the inside of the space forcing it to be in contact with the plastic wall of the storage area. At the corners try and squeeze the hose in as tight to the corner as possible. Continue in this way until you have to start a second layer where the hose is pushed against itself rather than the out wall. Always start at the bottom and work upwards. When the hose is in put the mains lead in. Good luck. Peter

Hi Peter, I purchased one and never got on with it, I got it for sanding and a bit of ts55 work but it very quickly sets off the bypass valve in it which reduces suction I've never filled a bag anywhere near before setting it off, maybe mines faulty.

Peter you did not mention the air blower capability of the CTL - how do I contact you for a set of your plans?
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Edward, I was pushed for space on the video as I try and keep them to about 15 minutes. Also, I am not a fan (pun?) of blown air in a workshop but I appreciate that any extractor has to have an exhaust port. To get plans I need an email address to which they will be sent. this is best done via a Private Message (PM). Follow this link: kzbin.info Hit the "About" tab then "Send Message". I am told that some tablets and mobile phones do not show all of this - that is out of my control. Peter

how does the sacrificial top get replaced? That would have been good to see.
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, I have not needed to do it yet but would suggest starting with a larger piece of MDF, perhaps enough for 2 tops. Then I would begin by creating the holes using the Parf Guide System (for accuracy). Then I would carefully router out the little recesses - probably using a template. This is a nice idea for a future video - thanks. Peter
@meaznet
@meaznet 6 жыл бұрын
More specifically, I should have said; how does it attach? is it just glued in place or is there an attachment that releases the sacrificial top? I will check out the Festool site.

Hi Peter. Don't you ever get tempted to just empty out the bag and reuse it?
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop 7 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I used to do this with my CT26 before I got the cyclone. One has to ensure that no dust gets into the atmosphere during emptying and refitting and when the bag starts to get discoloured it must be thrown away. Peter

Hi Ross, I work with some young professionals, several of whom are doing apprenticeships, and they all aspire to owning some Festool kit and one or two of them have some items already. It is a good thing to have ambition and aspiration. I feel sorry for the really rich people who can have what they want as their lives will be void of the motivation and satisfaction of working hard for something really nice. Peter

Thanks Peter, the Sys MFT does look very useful, but I'm considering getting one of the Feskit MFT 2 Workstation tops, as it's a larger work surface, fits any Systainer and can be easily stored away. feskit.co.uk/product/feskit-mft-2-workstation/
