Hello. Your excellent videos about your home town, Fethiye, have for a while made us want to visit it. And now, visiting Rhodes again, gave us the opportunity to do that. Fethiye proved to be a delightful experience. This quite large working town has it all. Real people living a real life. Good shopping, good eating and beautiful buildings and surroundings. We even visited the MÜZE. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

FETHIYE The lack of town beaches has kept Fethiye out of the development of many of its competitors, which is excellent news for those who want to enjoy a traditional Turkish seaside town with plenty of food, drink and sightseeing. There is a beautiful marina, cliffs covered with Lycian rock tombs. Boat trips and rental car trips to a number of ancient sites complete the picture

There will be always lack of town beaches if sea is so dirty. It is shame. Also Oludeniz was great for first days but then something changes and water was full of pieces of food and lost its cleanliness. Probably came from Fethiye...

Great videos! Very informative! My partner and I stayed in Oludeniz last year and it was beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. It was his first time in Turkey but my third ( having been to Marmaris twice many years back) We were so impressed at the gentle landings of the paragliding tandems that we decided to try it ourselves! Amazing experience! One for the bucket list! We are returning next April, during the Easter holidays again, but this time to Fetheye, can't wait! It's so beautiful , welcoming and friendly and we would like to be able to converse a little in Turkish , so will tune in to your videos for help! Thanks in advance! 😊

Hi Mick Amca, thankyou for your wonderful videos. We enjoy them alot. I was born in Ankara but migrated to Australia in 1971 when I was nearly 7yrs old. I would love to retire in Turkey's coastal areas. My friend who also moved to Fethiye Calis tells me she wants to move elsewhere as Fethiye is very hot for 4 months and they can't even leave their home. This is worrying for me but I still love Fethiye. We are looking for single storey homes but they are way too expensive. Can you make any recommendations. I like it closer to the beach.

Nice video Mick & Trudie. Do they have Thai massage like Istanbul? And if so wondering what the cost is. Looking for a new town to lay my retirement hat and that's a big issue for me. Also what is the smoking and trash situation there? Those are two main problems I like to avoid. Thanks for any help with these questions and happy adventures...

Hi Mick, I’m a Scarsbrook too! (My maiden name before I married, we originate from West Oxfordshire). We visited Calais 3 weeks ago and have already booked to return in March, we loved it so much. We also went to Fethiye on the water taxi and loved it there also. Two questions if you don’t mind me asking? In Fethiye there was a high end jewellery shop selling diamonds, we were dubious about buying anything, do you have any feedback on a reputable retailer to buy jewellery please? Also, do you know the best market to visit locally? We love Markets, would Fethiye be the only place or do Oludeniz or Dalaman have one? Thanks in advance.
@mickandtrudie10 күн бұрын
@@louisechainey2940 Hi Louis firstly where in Oxfordshire are your family from, the reason I ask this is because my grandad was from Oxford and we’ve traced all our family history back to 1592 all were from Oxford area my grandad was from Islip and his family from Stanton St John so we may be related, the nearest market is at the back of Çaliş in Yerguzlar street every Sunday, this street has many restaurants and cafes on it too, the best jewellery shops are in Fethiye
@louisechainey294010 күн бұрын
@ thank you, we’ll look forward to visiting the çaliş market in March. My family are from Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, 20 mins drive from Oxford. I think we may be related because I remember being told of an uncle who owned an umbrella shop in Oxford during the Victorian era and his family all lived in the centre of Oxford. My family have been in Chipping Norton since 1602 and owned a fruit and veg shop and a greengrocers in the past, because we’ve been in Chipping Norton for so long we have a street named after us ‘Scarsbrook Crescent’. Sounds like us Scarsbrooks were very entrepreneurial around Oxfordshire back in the day.
