I was extremely happy about this series, and look forward to its DVD release. Excellent. Some have criticized 'Lange is no Crawford'; 'Sarandon is no Davis.' Not me. I think both actresses were careful not to let their admiration for the legends get in their way of creating two real human beings, each with flaws of her own. Just enough - but not too much - of the mannerisms of each were carefully applied to create characters, not monuments. If _Feud_ doesn't draw a basket of Emmy nominations, something is seriously wrong.

I think both Lange and Sarandon out performed themselves in every way possible; they both deserve awards for portraying such screne legends in a very iconic way....they both portrayed the actresses characteristics to a tee and also added their own 'stank' when the time was right......

I love Jessica Lange, Dino Delaurentiis made a good decision when he casted her to play Gwen in the 1977 version of King Kong. Since then she won two oscars. I met her in person during the filming Crimes in the Heart in Southport, NC. We just shared a big smile, I had no words to say to a great actress. I am very sure they all get tired hearing fans saying you are my favorite actress , I seen all of your movies, all I said to Ms Lange was Have a great day Ms Lange, and we shared a smile, she was holding one of her kids.

I think both Lange and Sarandon emerced themselves so well into their characters that they were both to a point of no return.......they both did amazing jobs of portraying the true characters of both Joan Crawford and Bette Davis....they both deserve an award.

2:22 sadly true, Jessica Lange doesn't in anyway resemble Joan Crawford. Her performance however was excellent. But it only brings out the contrast of her lack of resemblance when you have Susan Sarandon who is a spitting image of Bette Davis especially in her Baby Jane makeup.

She read every biography except mommy dearest apparently. If I recall correctly in an interview she said that she found no evidence in her research that would indicate she was an abusive parent (paraphrasing there). Now Jessica has a right to her opinion, and I defended her to a few Internet trolls when this was still new, but I have a hard time believing she came across zero evidence. When Christina published mommy dearest a lot of people from Joan Crawford‘s inner circle corroborated what she said. Including one of Joan’s longtime boyfriend’s And Fiancé. I forget the actors name but he said one of his greatest regrets was that he abandoned Christina and Christopher By breaking up with Joan. In addition to him Cristinas accounts were corroborated by actors including Kirk Douglas, Lana Turner, Natalie Schafer and many others. Personally I think the producers had an image of Joan Crawford and Didn’t want the actors to shatter that image. Even if the image doesn’t match reality.

I agree. Faye Dunaway in "Mommie dearest" kept Joan looking regal which from everything I have read is how Joan presented herself always during her height of fame. She still looked pretty good when "Jane" was made. Bette looked older then Joan I felt in the original film. In this totally fabricated mini series according to Olivia Dehavalan Jessica's portrayal made Joan look pathetic. A,so, Jessica is a fine actress but she looks years older the Sue and playing opposite was not flattering to Joan Crawford's legacy as the superb actress, star she was at a time when not many women were at her level in Hollywood.

Dunaway's performance in Mommie Dearest was so on target that no one else can possibly come close in portraying Crawford, not even Jessica Lange. When I saw Dunaway, I SAW Crawford. With Lange, as good as she was, there is just something missing.

I didn't care for Jessica as Joan. The real Joan still looked pretty good at the time "Whatever happened to baby Jane?" was filmed. After the films success Joan had a career resurgence for abit, getting scripts, roles etc.... Granted not like her hey day but it was decent work. Jessica and this sham mini series that is totally fabricated according to Olivia Dehavalan made Joan seem pathetic and miserable. She deserved better then this depiction. Jessica looks a lot older then Sue and playing opposite ONLY made Joan look bad. As a viewer to me it seemed as though this production was Pro Bette.

No way.... Crawford was turning in her grave over this and that dreadful "Mommie dearest". At least that has some comical value and Faye did an excellent job looking the part unlike the horribly cast Jessica Lange who looks year's older then Sue. At the time when "Jane" was filmed Crawford still looked pretty good. The way she wore her hair made her look much older. I like Jessie Lange but she was miss cast. The whole mini series was a slap in the face to both actresses, Davis/Crawford. Do you really think Joan would be happy being portrayed spitting blood in the sink and referencing her bad teeth? Give me a break. That mini series made her look pathetic. In all the films I have ever seen of hers in the 30's & 40's her smile was magical, beautiful.
