I have been using this dipstick for a year and more than 10k miles. I hardly have any oil on the intake. There is no oil on the hose or the filter. Bike is running like a champ. Excellent product.
@RAIDERWORLD
@RAIDERWORLD 2 жыл бұрын
That’s good to hear! The way that Feuling has you route the hose and filter makes it harder for the oil to make its way to the filter, but still does the job. If your filter was soaked with oil, that would mean something else is definitely going on.

Yes Raider, that's how I did it too. After installing the Trask Transmission Cover, I removed the Vented Dipstick hose and K&N filter and screwed in the small cork valve. I kept the dipstick attached because it just looks better than the original dipstick. Both systems I consider unnecessary if you have installed an oil pump after 2019. Either the dipstick, or the Trask cover. In your place I would only go when you have a Feuling, or S&S Camplate and oil pump ( original Harley 2020) installed. You will otherwise lose oil. I have with the engine conversion to 117 cui equal to the S&S Camplate and oil pump with sealing ring installed. All the best and many new videos, greetings from Germany

Absolutely! Thank you. I’ve actually seen some 2021 Road Glides with very low mileage and a high amount of carbon build up and glazed cylinders. It’s hard to trust these upgrades Harley did until I see it with my own eyes. I do plan on adding some Feuling Upgrades soon, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise haha🤟🏽

@@RAIDERWORLD The new oil pump from Harley, S&S or Feuling does not prevent the blow-by. These oil pumps prevent sumping. You still have to do the venting. Either via the air filter, the vented dipstick or the trask transmission cover. However, the prerequisite for successful venting is a suitable oil pump. So the new Harley models have the right conditions for bleeding. All Harley M 8 before 2020 must first replace the oil pump in order to bleed successfully. Conclusion: To prevent bow by, M8 engines need one of the three ventilation options. From 2020 it will be cheaper because you can save the additional costs for a new oil pump. All the best, keep it up.

So I just installed the vented feuling dipstick, air cleaner & external breather kits for both. Did an oil change, 4 quarts 21 FXLRS, did a 1200+ miles this weekend and the filter connected to the dipstick leaked the whole time.

Sounds like a good ride! I’m also guessing you like riding at higher RPM’s. That sounds like some serious excess pressure and blowby. With this new set-up, Whenever I do an oil change, I will fill less oil than recommended. I’ll Go for a ride, and see if I am low. Can you visually see any oil in the air cleaner?

@@RAIDERWORLD it’s not from my air cleaner the oil is dripping from the filter connected to the vented dipstick. I do ride pretty hard but paying all that money I don’t think I should have that issue. I checked it this morning cold and my oil is showing at the 2nd pair of dots on the stick.

Thank You Brother! I looked at a few places for this filter, because that thought did cross my mind. I ended up going with what they recommended. I had no idea that it had that quick disconnect on the hose....pretty SWEET!! I had been reading that there have been some issues with the Trask (something about the gasket on the oil pump and the model of the oil pump and it "could " cause a massive amount of blowback), so now I am questioning what situation I am in and maybe I run 2 types of vents as well...I am looking at the HPI breather on the air filter, but the Fueling dipstick looks great as well.

I fitted one of these to my Sport Glide last year but couldn't live with the mess. With the filter element I was getting oil dripping under the bike after 50 to 100 mile rides and the smell of oil was not great. Replaced the filter with a catch can and it too was soon overwhelmed by the amount of oil being ejected. On one long days ride with my Mrs on the back everything at the rear of the bike was covered in a oily mist and smelled of it. I don't know what the answer is but I have removed the dipstick and feed line for now and gone back to stock..Much cleaner. I have an externally vented air cleaner (Trask) so hopefully that helps. I tried getting support from Feulling but they stopped answering my support request emails after I sent them photos they requested. Quite disappointing. The level of the oil in the bike seemed to make little difference, I even let it run quite low and it still spat significant oil down the vent line. I did wonder if it had anything to do with cornering as I do deck the pegs a lot on bends..maybe that allows more oil to escape?
@RAIDERWORLD
@RAIDERWORLD 2 жыл бұрын
I’m still testing both the Trask and the Feuling dipstick, but haven’t ran into any of these issues. I did hear that anytime you ride a lot of twisties and get a good lean, that could cause a bit of oil spit. Did you route the line/house the way they suggested? This helps prevent a lot of oil reaching the filter. I’m surprised Feuling hasn’t responded, I’ve had more success reaching them than Trask. It could also be that they are both in Daytona.
@TheunfamousflyCoUk
@TheunfamousflyCoUk 2 жыл бұрын
@@RAIDERWORLD this was last year, well before Daytona. Must have been September time. Initially they seemed to want to help though didn't seem to have an explanation for why so much oil was passing. Asked me to totally strip and disassemble the dipstick (and photograph) all of which I did, then they stopped responding. Gave up. Yeah I routed the hose pretty much as recommended, up . If I remove the filter from the end which is saturated I need to leave the line over a catch tray to drip all the emulsified oil out of . It's pretty messy. Unlike the US we have a lot of roads with roundabouts here and we circulate them in a clockwise direction, which means you lean the bike pretty much as far as the pegs will allow at fairly low speed, an awful lot just going from a to b across town. I speculated with Fuelling that maybe this was allowing oil to reach the cap more often. They didn't seem sure. Personally I think the valve part might need to be higher to let vapour/ pressure through without actual oil reaching it

@@TheunfamousflyCoUk here are a few things that might be a issue. You might be over filling the oil. Hot oil check takes about 20-30 minutes of straight riding for the oil to get to operating temperature. Your piston jets might be loose. Your pressure relief in your cam plate might be stuck. After you go for a ride pull out cam position sensor and catch all the oil that comes out. There shouldn’t be more than 4 ounces of oil in the bottom of the crank case

Hi. Can I ask for your advice on my 2019 road king. I had to upgrade the engine to 117 stage 3 with V&S headers, KW exhaust and Fuel pack tune. The bike has annoying ticking noise (valve noise??) and numbing fine vibration that causes me to loos sensation in my feet. the biggest issue is that with the RPM less than 3 it feels and sounds like I have maxed out on the gear and need to shift ... I basically have to shift quickly to 5th gear and stay below 70 MPH to avoid the vibration and the noise. Would you happen to know what is going wrong here? Is it normal to have these issues with the upgrade? please help I don't and can't enjoy my bike anymore

Both the Dipstick and Top Cover do not have anything to do with how the engine or transmission functions, so In theory, it should not void the warranty. It just allows it to breathe a little better than designed. It’s all on the dealership too, some play harder by the rules.
