I always assumed Turn of the Century had an airtime hill where the loops now are, but this is the first time I've seen it I think. It feels wrong looking a Whizzer without trees, like it's naked or something.

Yes… I’ve watched this special. I also went to the park in Santa Clara when it first opened in ‘76. I worked here in 1987-89 in the games area, the games warehouse, and as a t-shirt airbrush artist. Great… and horrible memories all at once… 😂 I was actually the Amazing Alfredo…

The little kid dressed up was supposed to be the actor Karl Malden who did American Express traveler's cheques commercials in the 70s and 80s. Must say they did a spot on job because the kid looks exactly like him.

Thank you for the context! I should have thought to look that up, it was almost too random for everything else going on in this special.

Clearly whoever came up with that "special" had previously worked on the "Star Wars Holiday Special". The "music" is eerily similar to the acrobats scene from SW: HS.

I know this is an old video but did the mexican comedy "El chavo del Ocho" take the music from here as the theme song or did they take the theme song from all "El chavo del Ocho" to use in this special? In the montage of the kids eating

Thanks! I think almost anybody can make decent videos on KZbin with very little. It’s just my iPhone 8 on a mini tripod. One ring light to the side and some color LEDs on the other which has mixed results. I need to start covering the window behind me too. Lighting and sound quality are more important to me at the moment.

The little kid with the imaginary traveler's check is a take off on the Karl Malden American Express commercial. Rob Weller pre Entertainment Tonight. Produced by the then ABC7 Chicago weather man John Coleman who went on to start the Weather Channel. Go figure.
