Hey guys, The small SRH805S antenna is a Chinese copy. It is not a real Diamond Antenna. We are in the process of stopping them from using our trademark name.

I'm commenting years later, I know. The NA-771 ( Nagoya ) in this video is fake / counterfeit, and as stated by Diamond, the SRH805S in this video is fake / counterfeit also.

@@xxM5xx Nagoya did have REAL ones printed in blue. The fake blue ones will rub off easily. The real blue ones are printed and coated.

It is not the blue ink issue alone. Look at the shape of the base.

@@xxM5xx yes, but the fact is, Nagoya made early units printed in blue.

Great comparison video. To all of you thinking how to improve your hand held, just buy the Nagoya NA771, Just buy it !!! Great antenna that works the best on not just the Baofeng but also the Quansheng TG UV2. I have both those radios by the way. 73's

yeah,definately.The Rh770 brings in a load of static,although the receive is the same as the NA771,but i read that being telescopic can affect the swr aswell.The NA771 just seems to work better for me??

Thanks for the appreciation.You`re right,in tests the NA771 came out better than any of the others.Good to know other radios benefit from this antenna as well.Cheers 73 M6ZEF

Hi Richard,thanks for the message.I have found the the Nagoya NA771 works the best on vhf/uhf and is reasonably cheap.You definately get further than the stock antenna.But for real improvement the `Harvest` RH770 is great,but it comes at a price.Hope this helps.Thanks!!

That Nagoya antenna is a counterfit. I know this because the nagoya logo is in blue, and real nagoya antennas are in Silver. Check amazon for the counterfit details.
@xxM5xx6 жыл бұрын
This is true. For me the dead give away that the NA-771 shown in this video is fake, is the shape of the molded base housing. Nagoya has a good web page online exposing the fakes. I've seen a lot of these fakes and I have seen many genuine NA-771. I own several of each (genuine and fake). There is a huge difference between the fake and the genuine Nagoya NA-771 in behavior / performance. The fake NA-771 can damage your radio's transmitter stage (or automatically fold back power to protect itself), particularly at the highest power settings. If this happens you will think the NA-771 is a bad design when in fact you could have a counterfeit (clunker). Diamond commented that the SRH805S in this video is a counterfeit too. I have a fake SRH805S and it is terrible. The counterfeit is terrible , confirmed. I threw it away. I wish I had a real genuine Diamond SRH805 for comparison. Using a HT and distant repeaters to test antennas isn't the way to go. Spend some money on actual test equipment (or borrow a friend's) if you want to test various antenna to be sure an antenna is good and won't damage your transmitter.
@M70ACARRY6 жыл бұрын
Not true. Nagoya did in fact, originally had blue lettering and molded base. I have an old NA-773 with Blue lettering. It's about 7 years old. SWR is 1:6:1. It works fantastic. Only a few years ago, did Nagoya print in silver.

@jonathanwarner184410 жыл бұрын
Nothing about transmission and SWR? I tested a so-called Nagoya 701 and the SWR was so high I threw it away. The helical antenna that came with it was slightly less than 2 and was the best bet for available portable antennas. Best result was with a whip antenna cut to size on a magmount stuck to a biscuit tin lid which gave SWR of 1.1

I'm getting a pair of these radios Baofeng uv5r will be using them while camping and will have attached to the back on my tactical vest with molle connectors so i wanted to know if theres a good antenna maybe one of those that you have that would be flexible enough so my walking or what ever wont break it? rubber ducky antenna style.

Hmm...that's weird, you should get the best results with RH-770, it's the longest radiator. Of course the resonance is totally different on 771 than on 770, you might accidentally hit the black spot for 770. Are you sure that NA-771 works better?

on testting my diamond RH770 I found that the standard antenna that came with the radio performed better, i took the rh770 to an event station with my ameture club and the location was on a hill with nothing for around half mile in any direction , the rh 770 got about 3 miles and the standard antenna that came with the radio got 7to8 miles on the same freq in exactly the same spot. done some further test with the little stocky super high gain one you can buy off ebay its apros 3to4 inches long with gold band around bottom where it connects to the radio, this performed better than the standard one and i got aprox ten miles on it. obviously day to day the propogation would changed all test done by myself and fellow ameture operator caried out within 5 mins to narrow down propogation change. good little radios and the standard antennas quite good id rate the standard 6 out of 10, the high gain stubby 7 to 8 out of ten and the diamond 770 3 out of ten.

Speaking of counterfeit antennae...at least some of the new BaoFeng radio models now come with a new "V85" antenna that is supposed to be an improvement over the prior antenna. Does anyone know how to verify that: 1) it is an "V85" antenna? 2) it is a genuing "V85" as opposed to a counterfeit? There are no markings indicating it's a "V85" anything. However, it has: a) "U-V Antenna" and "BAOFENG" embossed/moulded into the thicker base section of the antenna sleeving (but the "-" I'm using here is actually a half-high 'dot'), and b) inside the connector on the outer ring it has printed "FM/136-174/400-520MHz" (white text on black background). Those are all the identifying marks available.

my uv5r 8w came with one of those, and honestly, it aint half bad. idk what v85 means, but its better than the stock one in this vid.

10+ years late but for anyone watching - that Nagoya 771 is a fake. You can tell by the blue writing on it. If you ever plan on transmitting then please buy a real one. You don't know what the SWR is or if it will kill your radio unless you have proper testing equipment.

I think your find the Diamond antenna is (2meters 144Mhz) (70cm 430Mhz) and (23cm 1200Mhz) antenna, i own one, if your a real ham radio operator then you would know that. You said its a 6meter, 2meter, and 70cm antenna. You do realise that 6meters is in the 50Mhz range??Ive been a licenced ham radio operator now for 15 years and i use all the bands HF/VHF/UHF.
