People always say never put shrooms in your tank unless they are off on their own island and even then no disco because they come loose easy and float around and multiply and take over your tank! How have you prevent this? I have never had any problems with my yumas or rhodactis but I want to add some disos! lOVE YOUR TANK! yOU HAVE BEEN A HUGE INSPIARTION TO ME GETTING INTO THE HOBBY!
@DutchReefer6 ай бұрын
Hiya! Haha well in theory yes, they could release and float to other areas, but I wouldn't be too worried about this since discos aren't very invasive and nice to watch :)

So good. You seem master on mushrooms. My Ricardeo Yuma today left the Rock and strated floating. How to keep it on frag. Any advise on paramters and Care also.
@DutchReefer5 жыл бұрын
Oh it's so hard to keep them in one place... I found the best way is to add them in a small container in your tank/sump with substrate in it. Eventually they will attach to the substrate, then you can glue the substrate to your rocks! Parameters around 10-20 no3 (they like a bit) and other than that they're pretty easy-going!

For some reason, I am having a very hard time keeping ricordeas! I don't know why. The discosomas are no problem, but I have no idea why the ricordea won't do well in my tank. All the parameters are just fine. Not sure what the problem is!

Hi Krishna, hmm that's odd since they are quite easy corals to keep! If you have a frag, just glue it to the back of the tank using super glue or reef glue, and it should start spreading soon.

Got 1 the other led lights on 50%, blassto and acans doing well, but ricordea is just shrinking up, what could it be, its not even directly under the lights?
@DutchReefer4 жыл бұрын
Hmm it could be still adapting to the tank. As long as it's not changing color (to very light translucent color) then you're good. Does it have too much flow perhaps?

I love all the mushrooms but how are you keeping them from taking over? Are you removing them as they spread? I end up with colonies so big I have to remove the whole rock. 💖
@DutchReefer6 жыл бұрын
Hmm they don't really spread that fast so that hasn't turned into a problem, YET :-)
@LordFarquaad0075 жыл бұрын
Hey do the mushroom shrink and slightly retract before they split? I have a interstellar mushroom for a month now and in the past 4 days it has looked smaller and “deflated”.. I can’t tell if it’s splitting because the shape is no longer round... it’s shriveled and looks like it has large indentations that are possibly “splitting”

Hi, ja het is soms wat lastig. Je kunt 'm het beste een poosje op een rustig plekje op het zand leggen zodat hij zich hecht aan de steentjes. Daarna kun je 'm lijmen waar je wilt :)

Beautiful tank. I do t mean to be negative but, I just can’t seem to find a video where the author sticks to the subject matter often. This video was called “keeping mushrooms corals” yet all he did was point out his corals.
@DutchReefer5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, but did you watch the entire video? While I indeed show the various mushrooms around the tank I'm also telling stuff about their behavior, how they replicate, feeding, et cetera. What kind of information would you have liked to hear in addition to what I have told during the 10min walkthrough?

I dont know what video you were watching! He has tons of corals and he basically spoke about mushroom, coverd basic care and how they reproduced, lightning, feeding.
