Great video as always! Worth noting is that euphyllia glabrescens has a tendency to sting other kinds of euphyllia. And also bigger species of zoas will overgrow smaller ones since they're blocking them from the light.

Thanks for the additions Nathalie! Both are correct :)

Awesome thank and videos. Perhaps my all time favorite. Is the beautiful yellow/rusty gorgonian photosynthetic? Do you happen to know its Latin name and or trade name? I'd love to pick one up in the US. Thanks!
@DutchReefer6 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! Nope it's not or barely photosynthetic, it really needs food and doesn't like light a lot. Other than Rusty Gorgonian I don't know the name other than Gorgonia sp. :(

Your tank is absolutely insane. Period. Just stunning. How long have you had it? How old?

Is ricordia a mushroom or mushroom shape. I have seen some that look like a single flower type mush room, I see yours growing together and expanding the mushroom. I dont know how to explain but my questions is can or do some people keep it trimmed down to a single large flower. Actually I do see some separate ones in a large flower in your tank so I am guessing you trim them. Please answer as I am placing an order tonight. Ricordia and yuma and a plain one! I love mushrooms. The chaise has a hump in center is that because it was left on a frag plug? I am ordering some of them as well. Do mycedium type plate or just the one starting with a e I believe. Sorry, I am learning a lot and thanks for teaching me!

Good morning i check my reef water today im running the same set up as you my nitrates are 0.25 and phosphates are 0.012 is this to low i have a mixed reef ????? thanks bill ray
@DutchReefer6 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, ah that's exactly the opposite of what I have :-)... yeah 0.012 is very low, can I ask what test you have used? You need a high precision test to make sure that it is actually that low.
@billray77036 жыл бұрын
@@DutchReefer yes I use the hana tester but the one that's ULR. Then use the hana chart to convert
@@billray7703 That's the perfect kit. What I can suggest is try to reduce nitrates without affecting phosphates too much. For example using chaeto, which grows on nitrates.

Great video - I love the 2 montis to the left of the 3 Gonis - those colors contrast so well together and so do the different forms. This is a SUPER helpful one (and I still want to get a Galaxea;) Just gotta put it where the flow moves away from other corals ;)
@DutchReefer6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sunny! Good that you liked it and it was slightly helpful :)... Galaxea are really beautiful but indeed you gotta keep it out of reach of other corals :)

Hi Dutch Reefer i currently have a reefer 750xxl and want to run a single maxspect gyre. Would you recommend the xf280 or would the xf250 be ok? i see your running the xf250 do you think this will be ok as there is quite a difference in price. Thumbs up to your videos! Thanks.
@DutchReefer6 жыл бұрын
For a 750 XXL I guess one gyre would be barely sufficient. At least an XF280 for sure if you decide to go with one and your reef structure is open enough to let the flow go through the entire tank!

Hey how do get your hand to the bottom of the tank to place corals? Do u use any tools to help you?
@DutchReefer6 жыл бұрын
I'm quite tall so I can reach all the way to the bottom :)
