In earlier worlds you should buy spells that are cheap just so you can recycle them. If you've the recycling perk maxed, it gives back more money than you spent on cheaper spells and not to mention the pavo feather chance to drop on recycling

That is the added difficulty mode - since people have beaten DL 54 (max difficulty before this update) they are allowing up to DL 100 now but the difference between DL 54 > 100 is no added modifers just added stats in terms of Health and Damage to the enemies and bosses
