That clip at 7:15 ish with Thundaja so sick. Black mages are just so strong and even though I like physical characters having Ramza and some females with pretty high Faith just wreck

Haha, thanks J7Jase! I personally don't like casting the -Ja spells because they take so long and it's tough to gather enough units together to make it worth the AoE damage; but man, do they look amazing! 😍 I might be coming around to high Faith, as the potential is so high; and if your target has Athiest, they just need a whack from a Rod of Faith! 🤣 Kidding, don't try this at home.

Black Mage is one of my favorite jobs. Very balanced, at least in chapter 1, with fair tradeoffs for its damage potential. While the Black Magick falls behind later in the game, the job can still work very well with MA based abilities such as Iaido or Aritmeticks.
@michealdeangelo74522 жыл бұрын
Absolutely one of my favorite jobs in FFT. And it's design is ICONIC, not just in Final Fantasy but in gaming. Personally, I like Mana Shield over Counter Magic on my BM to give it some extra survivability. The mana loss is offset by Ethers (and if you want to be extra, Manafont). Arcane Strength is busted and should be classified as steroid abuse. Once you get it, that's when you truly start seeing just how strong BMs are. It's easy to mistake BMs (like WMs and Chemists) as your classic "weak starter job" since you unlock them so early but they scale so so well.

Thanks for watching the latest episode, Michael, and great commentary too! I prefer Mana Shield myself when I'm running Iaido as a secondary skill. Otherwise I default to Shirahidori in case I want to nuke someone with Flare. 💥 Arcane Strength is the best, I love this ability, and I might start calling it Magick Roids from now on! 💪

Excelent early game build. I'm planning on making Ramza a Black Mage for the entirety of chapter 1, maybe also chapter 2 on my next playthrough. Also it's useful for later since it's necessary to unlock the Black Knight, possibly the best generic (not character specific) job in the game. On a side note, YOU ARE ALMOST AT 1000 subscribers. Just 14 more left at the time i am writing this very comment. I think you're going to get that 1000 milestone as a hollyday / new year gift. Congrats!.

Thanks Joaquin, I appreciate the kind words and I'm grateful to folks like you for keeping me motivated! 🙏 Don't forget about spillover JP to help you grind out the bigger spells; this has helped me get a mastered black mage much faster, which is the toughest part of unlocking dark knights. 👍
@joaquinkhourysilvestre25302 жыл бұрын
@@TacticsLive I've never hear that one before, what's spillover jp?
@TacticsLive2 жыл бұрын
Glad you asked, it's a very useful feature! For every JP you earn, every other unit in the fight earns 25% of that Job. For example: You have a Knight and 4 Black Mages. Every time anyone takes an action you get 24 JP, let's say for this example. Each time the Knight does an action, each of the four Black Mages earn 6 Knight JP. Every time the BMs do an action, the other BMs get 6 BM JPs each, and the Knight gets 6 BM JP as well. I know that's a lot of acronyms, but the idea is to take 5 BMs and get those free JP from the other team members. It's an easy way to earn free JP with more fewer, but more focused, grinding sessions. 💪

If you really want to boost one element without sacrifice to the other 2 I would go with 108 Gems accessory, a Black Robe, and a elemental rod of the corresponding type. You rely on your hat to add MA, though the elements of the Black Mage are All increased in some way. More effective at low levels when you get the gear, though having played the game since the original release I find these are good supplemental gear choices for the 'young' Black Mage.

Why would there be a situation where the other elements will be sacrificed in the first place?

How do you keep your units after they’ve reached 85 in either Bravery or Faith? It isn’t directly related to this video but mine keep trying to leave
@TacticsLive2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video today, DX! 🙏 That is completely normal to have high Faith units try to leave your party. My units with high Faith do this all the time when I'm recording matches with this save file, but it's as easy as resetting the game to get them back. For regular story playthroughs, you will need to keep your Faith below I believe 89 to avoid desertion. For Bravery it can go as high as 100 with no penalty. It's low Bravery, around 10, that a unit will desert the party. This is applicable to unique characters once they've permanently joined your party.
@perezkoala2 жыл бұрын
You can have 97 bravery for all units and 100 during battle with no penalties (except for treasure hunter which works with low bravery). It's having a low bravery that makes your units leave. The only character that can have 97 faith natively without leaving would be Ramza, and that is one of the reasons he is an excellent mage.
@darkxipher19082 жыл бұрын
@@perezkoala yeah I guess I shouldn’t have mentioned bravery but knowing I can go just a little higher with faith without the unit leaving is comforting
@perezkoala2 жыл бұрын
@@darkxipher1908 I don't remember the exact number but I think all units except Ramza will start warning at 85 (or 83) faith, and it's at 95 when they will leave. For Ramza, there will be no warning. Personally, I prefer having the faith at 3 (minimum) for magic in unity or as high as before the warning, to avoid that annoying message every time.

@@perezkoala I have a caster at 85 and she keeps saying she is going to leave, I have played through this game several times since it was released on PS, I honestly had no idea I was doing it all wrong until I came across this channel.

One of the best classes by far. You can easily wreck the first 3 chapters with just Fira/Blizzara/Thundara. Add magic attack up (idk what it's called in the psp version, the black mage support ability) and it's just busted.
@TacticsLive2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video Ace, and I agree Black Magicks are dominating early on. For PSP their passive skill changed to Arcane Strength, and yes, awesome way to put your offensive magic-based skills over-the-top! 👍

Speed stat can make spells charge more faster?
@TacticsLive2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no. Spells have a static amount of ticks to cast, which you can determine by dividing the spells' SP by 100. So a spell with 50 SP will cast in two ticks. The Swiftness passive skill doubles the SP of the spell so it will cast in half the time. 👍

I certainly hope so!! I think Poison is under utilized, but then again it's very easy to do a bunch of damage at once instead of slowly chipping away at your enemy. 🤔
