Go to a place called Cliff Dwellers, AZ, Northern tip. I climbed to highest point, I could without equipment. I felt like the past and present were closer to each other there than in other places. So I waited for dusk and played cosmo canyon and my childhood and adulthood came full circle. If cosmo canyon was your favorite town. Then do what I did, wait til dusk and play cosmo canyon and tell me that you don't feel magic?! It was a amazing experience. please walk upon the town like it was where you eat so don't shit on it. Pick up after yourself. Something can grab you when you get there. I felt a very young genis going through the same thing.

The one positive thing in this game for me. If there's any game I dislike from the FF series (more like hate with a passion), it's FF7, but I always loved this song. Really nice work, as with pretty much everything else that I've listened to from you so far.

To be fair Final Fantasy 7 isn't a BAD game, it just doesn't deserve the praise it gets from nostalgia driven fans. It suffered from a meh plot, and bad visuals, but the gameplay was good, and so was the score. The worst game is 13, AKA hit the same button while moving forward over and over and somehow win.

Agreed about 7. That is the reason why I hate it. I'm a huge fan of the FF series, and as things usually go, I tend to be surrounded by a few other fans, and I cannot even tell you how many always try to shove FF7 down someone's throat. The immense hype for a meh plot, generally bland characters (except for Nanaki and his sad backstory and one of the best Cids in the whole series), and recycled plot points from other entries (a main character dying? Meh, V was far more epic), and an omnipresent, "omnipotent" emo kid with some sort of terrible Oedipus complex for a bad guy... ugh. The game was passable because of it's scale and gameplay, but all of that exaggerated hype over something with just that many cons to it just gets so freaking annoying that it eventually made me despise it. :/

***** Let me tell you why I disagree with you. I find this opinion all too often, and I just don't understand it. The visuals were bad? What other game (with this much complexity. Keep in mind there's only so much space on a disc) in 1997 had much better graphics than VII? I don't know of any. And a meh plot? Uh, how? I always hear these vague complaints instead of talking about the faults in detail. The plot is very creative, nothing like VIII (I do love VIII though) which is just freaking boring with NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AT ALL. The plot of VII is interesting, they're always on the run, either running toward something or away from something. Shinra is sucking the life out of the planet, at the same time, Sephiroth is running around causing destruction and killing people. Which do they stop first? And then you find out Cloud was injected with Jenova cells, as an experiment, and he is actually being controlled at the same time because he's at a point of extreme emotional weakness. Everyone has some type of character development (again, VIII had NONE. OMG.), I could go into detail about each if you want. I don't expect everyone to like FFVII, but hate? I'm pretty sure it's just about young people wanting to go against the flow. FFVII may not be the best (Well, to be fair, it is to me), but it's definitely not hate worthy.

Alyssa Martin Seems like you didn't even bother reading my comment. Never did I mention the visuals in my comment - the other guy did (though I did find them hideous outside of battle and prefer FFVI's 2D visuals over it). Also, I never compared the game to FFVIII either, so I don't know where that comes from. Now, no, the plot isn't horrible, but it is *not* the amazing thing fanboys make it out to be. It basically recycles various plot points from different RPGs, and puts it in a rather different, modern setting (that, I'll give it credit for). Also, that one biggest plot point that seems to have had the most impact for most of it's fans? You know, that one extremely predictable death? It had already happened before in the series, and in much more epic fashion. No, the characters aren't that amazing - while most get some character development, their personalities are just bland and not very likable at all (again, except for one of the best Cids in the series - he was just epic). Now, in the game's story, they're not always on the run trying to figure out which to stop first between shinra and sephiroth - the plot takes a weird shift immediately after they reveal sephiroth's existence, and the party pretty much forgets almost entirely about shinra and sets off looking for clues about Sephiroth. Coincidentally, they keep finding what they believe to be Sephiroth and always some sort of "terrifying" image to go with it, like the impaled midgarsormr among other stuff, but at the end, in a pretty shitty plot twist, it turns out that Sephiroth was never "there"; he was pretty much omnipresent! Always fucking "asleep" in a crystal, waiting to do his "mommy's" bidding for some unexplained reason. Cloud being controlled in a moment of extreme emotional weakness? Yes, a pretty depressing part of the game (along with that part with him in a fucking wheel chair - that was horrible), when it turned out that the main character that had always been a cocky douche to everyone turned out to be an incredibly emo kid and a liar. That's the most epic main character in the whole series according to annoying fanboys for ya (The same inconsequential fanboys that sometimes hate Lightning even though she is, essentially, the same fucking character). Speaking of lame characters, there's characters like Yuffie and Cait Sith, that served no other purpose than being annoying as fuck, or the walking pair of boobs who was just... there, and only was of use near the end of the game to help the emo asshole come to his senses. Yeeah... Also, remember Fort Condor? Ugh, FUCK Fort Condor... But like I said in my previous comment, which you apparently didn't read, the game isn't terrible, and I don't hate it because of it's gameplay or anything like that, not at all. I came to hate it *because of it's fanbase*. Because of the incredible amount of praise it gets despite not being all that special at all and not at all better than many other entries in the series. It got so effing annoying, that I eventually came to hate the game for that reason.

I "got" FFVIII because you were implying FFVII was the worst FF, which also implies that it is worse than FFX-2 (ugh, don't make me laugh), and FFVIII, neither of which I could ever imagine being true. I used FFVIII as a basis to compare VII, as it came out right after VII. If you weren't saying this, OK, but that did seem like what you were implying. Don't jump to assume someone didn't read your comment before respondng, why would I take the time to type anything back then? And what game isn't recycling elements from other games? What RPG could possibly be 100% unique, not drawing something from a game before it? Do you think the death of certain characters previously in the FF series was the FIRST TIME any character DIED in a video game EVER? The answer is no, so that doesn't make sense. The death thing proved to be popular and well received, so, before they'd even come up with more than 3 characters, the story writers said, "We have Cloud, Barrett, and Aerith. Which of them is going to die?" That is how early on in the process that was decided, simply because they felt it "needed" to happen. There are SO MANY OTHER THINGS that are forced in ALL of the games after II, so how is a dramatic death any different? Would you also say Tidus's "fate" is boring and unoriginal as well? Or do you dislike X as well, since more than a few other people enjoy playing it? I have met many people who don't like VII for valid reasons, but honestly it sounds like you're bashing the game just to bash it. Cait Sith served no purpose? O_o News to me, I thought he was a double agent for Shinra. My bad. Did you not play the game? Sephiroth was able to control Jenova's cells, (who we know is a shape shifter, always has been.) The Jenova body in Midgar morphed to mock Sephiroth's physical appearance, and he controlled it from his Mako Cacoon, just like Jenova could always do before. I don't see how that doesn't make sense? Cloud was a liar? How? I hope you're not talking about the Zack thing. He was still sick with Mako poisoning, and had delusions of being someone else, which came with his hallucinations while he was still sick. Shrug. A lot of people are way too obsessed with FFVII, and for all the wrong reasons, but I think it is a VERY strong game for 1997, and holds up pretty solidly, despite the graphics things, which honestly hurts my eyes when I play it on my flat screen. Most of the fanboys have barely even beaten the game, and that makes sense, but I think too many people call the game way too overrated, like it has no impressive elements whatsoever. I think that's silly. But haters gonna hate.
