I just beat the weapons recently, just spam KOTR while one character use megalixir and all-life2 for the party. It took 8 KOTR for emerald while 5 or 6 to ruby.

I know this is an old comment, but I accomplished this too with Red xiii at level 83, his hp was naturally 7,777 so just him attacking and 4 rounds of KOTR from Cloud at lvl 99 did the job for me

Another interesting method is my favorite: Gravity. Most bosses are immune to the Gravity element, Emerald WEAPON is not. So equip your party with W-Magic and mastered Gravity linked to Quadra Magic. Because he's weak to Gravity, even Demi1 will still do 9999 damage to him. So using Demi1 on Emerald WEAPON will, because of the Quadra Magic and W-Magic, inflict 9999 x 2 x 4, or roughly EIGHTY THOUSAND DAMAGE - per character, per round. And when he activates his eyes, just hit them with standard attacks or a powerful spell or summon OTHER THAN KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND (Emerald WEAPON will counter Knights of the Round with Aire Tam Storm if he has less than half his HP). Once the eyes go away, just resume the Gravity bombardment. Bear in mind, you can't ACTUALLY kill Emerald with Gravity. It does percentage damage, so you'll get him down to around 1000-ish damage. But once you see that he's taking damage less than 9999, just start hitting him with standard attacks. Also, a little advice for anyone trying to Morph the Ghost Ship - Use Yuffie equipped with her Conformer to Morph it. Normally, the Morph command only does 1/10th normal attack damage. However, Yuffie's Conformer actually ignores this damage penalty, and will do FULL damage when using the Morph command, so you can get items from morphable enemies much easier that way.

i never thought about it, cuz the the clue, that the damage is linked through materia, never reached me. aire tam storm is an anagram for materia storm.. thing is, the german version on the psx, called materia "substance" but aire tam storm, was left as it is.. thus, no clue for the 12 year old me, that wasnt very good in english at the time. i always thought, that ability was linked via certain damage over time, that eighter you give him or that you take. or that its linked by healing amounts, like at 50k of heal, the ability of his, gets into the pool and has a 1in6 chance to activate. the way i did it back then. was to come with full limit bars on cloudl, red13 and cid, spam all the 3 limits on him right away, but only the ones, that hit multiple times, eq 4x cut on all characters, and burst him down with repeated 4x cuts and use heal materia with magic counter. that way, it got him even without the underwater materia. it took hours of grind to get the 4x cut to max and split into a new one, but thats the way it worked. i only found out about the underwater materia use later, since i had no gameguide

That two materia per character should’ve been strategy 1 which is the “Least amount of work strategy”. Seriously, that strategy is even simpler and kills Emerald quicker. You don’t even have to think about getting final attack materia

I swear I had dozens of those things in my inventory by the time I got the one I wanted.

I used almost the same setup as we did with ruby. Kotr-Absorb HP, with mime had everyone alive and let them die after making yuffie cast Haste so I can get more attacks in Used KotR twice and mimed every time after. I found out that he actually has a chance to MISS Aire tame so equip a lucky plus materia and just spam him to death with Kotr It really did feel like RNG the entire time but I eventually got him on my 11th try and that was after a million iterations to my build.

Just had Cloud with kotr-hp absorb mime-counter w-summon Then Yuffie had mime-counter And Cid had Mime-counter underwater You put your cursor to memory Have Cloud cast W-Summon kotr Have Cid and Yuffie use mime Wait for Clouds turn then use mime himself Then just hold the O button or whatever button you use for confirming an action You will only use the mp for kotr on Cloud the 2 times and after because everyone is miming it, it will be free. Also every time he hits you with a single move you will counter with an hp absorbing w-summon kotr. You can't die!

There’s another strategy that works flawlessly. First, kill off two characters so there’s only one left to fight. On your preferred character, equip KOTR paired with Hp steal. Then pair the command counter material with mime. So you select KOTR which will steal enough HP to refill your health. After that, just select mine. You won’t need higher than rank 1 knights because you’re miming your own attack. Each time you mime, knights gets used again and steals hit points. If you get attacked, you counter attack with mime. This is such an easy strategy that the timer is irrelevant. This is still a great video. I never fully understood the mechanics of the battle. I just knew how to win. I also didn’t know the timer could be removed!

I'm shocked you didn't post the counter-attack, counter deathblow, 4x cut combo. You kill Emerald in only a few turns with Cid. It was my favorite way to cheese him about 10 years ago when I found out that it works.

Replaying this I couIdn't be bothered grinding up high level materia, so I just used 4x cut on each character & long range materia for Cloud, stand everyone in the backrow & tranq everyone for sadness extra 30% def boost or use fury for faster limits (fury can make you miss), immediately hero drink at the start of the fight, and after that it's just chop away until Emerald dies. Use limits as they appear, and have one character megalixer everytime damage is taken. Bonus is you don't have to wait for long animations with magic or summons and Emerald will never meet the criteria to use Aire tam storm. Win.

I beat both Ruby and emerald with just maxing two kotr materias and equipping them with w-summon and mime. Probably took less than ten turns doing this, I can't remember, it's been 20 years. Just Ruby was more a pain in the ass

I did similiar but only used one kotr and 3 mime with hp and mp absorb and of course w-summon. I'm sure that tells you enough lol. Ruby is cake with hades on the tentacles, and elemental at max + fire materia linked. He can't kill you at that point his flame will heal you completely every time he uses it. Since he never casts shadow flare twice in a row or even twice if i remember correctly.

My favorite strategy is the 4x cut, counterattack, and counter deathblow. With enough counterattacks and counter deathblow materia on one character by the time you get your 3rd or 4th turn, Emerald will be dead. My first time beating him was to spam Knights 2x every turn from every character.

Has it been 20 years already? This brings back my memory. I remembered Ruby was quite easy to beat at max stats. For Emerald, I just found it harder to beat because of the LASER thing. The trick was for Cloud to use MP Turbo + W-Summon + KOTR when the battle started then followed by Mime continuously, thus killing off Emerald within 2 rounds before it had a chance to do any serious damage.

The Counter-Mime setup works better with Barret and his Ungarmax (Angermax on the PC version) Limit Break. It hits 18 times, but can be aimed at a specific target, so you can target only emerald weapons core. 4 Hero Drinks on Barret, then use Ungarmax on Emeralds core. I think Emerald usually counters with a stomp, which triggers a bunch of Ungarmaxes, all directed at the important bit. Ungarmax is also a much faster animation than Omnislash, so you can beat Emerald a lot quicker (~1:30) P.S. Subbed due to Strategy #3

All these methods are so much easier than how I defeated Emerald back in 1997. My method mainly involved quadra-magic materia paired with KoTR, to cast that 4 times, then mime materia to recast KoTR four more times for each of the other character.

All Lucky 7's does a shit ton of damage but doesn't kill him. However if you have limit breaks at the ready, you can easily kill him when the effect is over.

I've got one that's not in the video: W-Magic, Quadra Magic + Gravity, Mime. Start with Demi and work your way up to Demi 3. Anytime the damage falls below 9999, use the next level of Demi (damage below 9999 indicates that you're nearing the bottom end of his health pool because of how Demi works). This lets each character deal 2 x (9999 x 4) damage per turn, or 79992 damage per turn, killing him in just 13 turns. Using Mime eliminates the need to have the same materia equipped on everyone, which can mitigate damage from Air Tam Storm. It also provides high damage without long animations, making it viable defeating Emerald Weapon without the Underwater Materia. Not as flashy, but I was pretty proud when I came up with it back in the day lol.

Too much time squandered when I was younger but I made my characters 255 max stats with sources and everyone had a full set of master materia. I think I took Ungarmax + mime with Barret alone and it was fine. Of course, I kept the Weapons alive. More entertaining that way.

I never mastered enough mimes or counters to do the Omnislash trick. But I did master a ton of pink counter-attacks once I realized you could stack those. Cloud, Barret, and Cid each had 5 counter-attacks and counter+mime (which would end up either miming 4x cut or megalixer). Took Emerald out with all physicals in less than 5 minutes.

I have seen someone win using the All Lucky 7s strategy. They had their limit breaks at max, so when the 7777s ended, the limit breaks from the 3 used characters finished it off.

I had Cid at max health with only 2 materia equipped. This will lead to a relatively easy Segway to ‘All Lucky 7s’ when Emerald uses Air Taem Storm assuming your health is full when it hits.

All Lucky 7’s can take out Half of Emerald Weapons HP. After that Mime and Counter combination maxed out with Knights of the Round can finish him off without getting damaged. At least the not getting damaged part.

I am surprised the technique I used was not mentioned. I was able to defeat him in 2 rotations using this combo. cloud = knights of the round with w-summon materia also cloud = mime materia. second party member = mime with hp absorb linked third party member mime with mp absorb linked. 5 mimics later emerald is dead and never has a chance to fire off materia storm. despite my knights of the round only being level 1 cloud will still perform the action even though the second attempt will fail for him. It is not the case with following parrty members. They will each cast 2 knights succesfully as will cloud once the rotation repeats. Not to mention you finish the fight completely healed and mana charged hehe. In fairness though duplicating the mime materia 2x takes quite some time.

I used Final attack one my 1st 2 characters with knights of the round, and final attack with Phoenix on my last character. Seeing as to how it's likely everyone will die together, and phoenix will revive everyone. When I start the fight, I cast knights of the round immediately, then use Mimic until everyone dies. Mimic will not consume MP when coping a spell. after everyone is revived from phoenix, cast Knights of the round again, then repeat mimic process until dead.

Man, I never knew the Final Attack strategy is so ultimate. With that you are basically untouchable. (Like) The second best strategy I found (by myself) is the lucky 7 strategy. And no, not using Aire Tam Storm. I mean lucky 7 right from the start of the battle! You may not know but there are actually a lot of ways to set up lucky 7 status for whole party before a fight. You can look them up on youtube. The way I discovered myself was using manipulate and mini on an easy monster, have it attack you until you are 7677 HP, then kill it, return to world map and use potion, which will heal you to exactly 7777 HP. Then when you start the battle with Emerald, your party will automatically starts off with the 7777 series of attacks. After that, spam limit break with mimic (which will continue to do 7777 damage each hit as long as your HP is 7777). This requires some luck, because if you get hit and your HP is no longer 7777 before you can kill Emerald, you might lose the fight. But the chance can be increased by equipping luck plus to help you evade, and using characters with limit break that hit as many times as possible for maximum damage (who are Barret with his Angel Max and Cid with High Wind limit break). After probably 3 or 4 tries, you will nail him. And you can also combine it with any of these strategies for a safe measure. 8x mimic-magic counter + omnislash kills him faster, but all the effort for grinding those materias is quite hard.

This has been my can’t fail strat: 1. Chocolate quest to get Golden Chocobo-> get the Knight of the Round summon 2. Get Final Attack, pair it with Phoenix summon 3. Get Mime 4. I think there is a 2 time summon, ‘w-summon’ (I think), it’ll summon any summon twice 5. Pair Knight of the Round with MP Absorb, this will guarantee you’ll always have sufficient MPs for more Knight of the Round and Final attack 6. Just w-summon Knights of the Round, and keep Miming it 7. WIN

However I did successfully do the all 7s and it was amazing. Thank you so much for the videos my daughter and I find them hilarious and informative. I played this game when it came out as a teenager and downloaded it to my Switch as an adult because no game I've played since has ever come close. I didn't beat it back then and I'm trying my darnest now! Emerald weapon was not the beginner trap for me because I was so excited about the sub I just drove it around and avoided emerald. However I did fall victim to wow what's the red worm? Oh man I'm dead in 3 seconds. Say prayers for me... Gonna go back and master 2nd KOTR and try emerald again.

Update! I DID IT! HOLY MOTHER I NEVER THOUGHT SHE WOULD DIE. My KOTR ended up killing all of the eyes so she went back to original state but I guess I did enough damage on center body because another hit and she was DONE! Thank you again. No way in a million years would I have been able to defeat these weapons without your videos. This game has been a fav for years with never completing and now it is within my grasp! (Evil laugh)

Yesterday, I beat Emerald WEAPON using Cloud, Red XIII, and Vincent. They all had a set of Counter and Mime, Red XIII had an Underwater, and Cloud had a set of KoR and HP Absorb, and a W-Summon. I used 2 KoR and just mimed it.

An easier way to kill him is to max out mime twice, get knights of the round to a least level 2 so you can summon it twice. Pair kinghts up with HP absorb. Put that and W-summon on one character. Put under water on a different character. Make sure everyone character has mime. Use W-summon knights of the round. Now, just keep miming K.O.R. until he's dead.

Small friendly note: "Regen" is pronounced "ree-jen" like "regenerate", not "reg-en" with a hard G. I initially said it the same way you do when I first saw it in a Final Fantasy game way back when on the original NES, I think. I know it's in Final Fantasy III as it was then called in North America on the Super Nintendo, but I can't remember if it was in any of the original NES games though. It's been ages since I played them again.

I've always liked using Demi 3 with w-magic and quadra magic to hit him for 80k. Of course, I also have to use KOTR whenever the lights get revived.

Surprised I didn't see the strategy I used 20 odd years ago. Master Knights of the Round on one or two characters, Mimic on all 3 characters. One uses it and then everyone else Mimics the summon, allowing you to recast it without spending all your MP. Been a long time since I did it so there may have been more to it than that, but that was the basic idea.

I can't remember exactly how I beat Emerald back in the day... It was something like each character got a master mime materia, and one character got a final attack materia paired with the Phoenix summon. One character summons up Knights of the Round and it would just loop. If Emerald got an attack in and wiped us, the final attack/ summon Phoenix brought everyone back. Rinse, repeat. Also, you can fight without the timer of you do some other side quest involving mythril.

Accidentaly i've found out something AMAZING. If you have Cait Sith on level 51 and you equip him with two Hp+ materias on level 4, his max hp will be 7777. when the battle is starting, he will hit emerald like i dont know 20 times taking 7777 each< this i know for sure but.... (i didnt checked it yet) but i guess he would do this each time you revive him with phoenix (to get his hp to the max when reviving him) or get his hp to the max curing him.

pair phoenix with final attack, if you can get one or two characters at 7777 that helps a lot then 4x cut, highwind, earth rave, omnislash or any of the other limit breaks that do multiple hits is how I beat him
